“Cool Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2012

This was a great hotel and it was well located. We walked to most places around town and had a great time. The rooms were large by European Standards and the bathroom was fantastic. Hopping bar and restaurant scene. Definitely a see and be seen hipster crowd. Not a place I would take kids as there are a lot of adult oriented books and art on the walls.
I would absolutely return for another stay when in Stockholm.

Very nice for sure. You'll feel at home in very personnalized rooms. Location is great, although the neighborhood is a bit calm, but very close to everything and nice view on the water. Restaurant is fine. Of course all this has a (high) price but I would say it's worth it compared to many not personnalized luxury places. And very Scandinavian style.

Very elegant: high windows under high ceilings, hardwood floors, art books and trendy photos everywhere. I had a deluxe room, large with water view. Very helpful staff. But: small desk with no nearby power outlet; no closet, a single slim wardrobe with just 3 hangars; no hairdryer or 120 volt outlet in bath; weird bluetooth phone with no indication how to call desk, room service etc; no information of any kind in room -- do they have a fitess center? So the hotel is an artist, talented but not entirely practical.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms are large and airy. Don't know about smaller rooms.

After many years of hotel expierence it is such a relief to finally find a hotel that is perfect in itself, like a healthy person with a healthy mind. Though relatively small it has a nice restaurant, a superb bar with music in the evening, a terrace with service, a very welcoming staff and very important: good rooms with great beds. The air-conditioning is quit, the view is great since water is all around you and the boats park just in front on the hotel.

At breakfast you will find two nice girls serving on you with pleasure and a smile - such a rarity nowadays. Then you take the renovated antique elevator up to your room (or you can take a modern elevator, or walk, and on the walls are not the stupid paintings or pictures that are there just to fill empty space: no, the pictures on the wall in Lydmar are about the Japanese earthquake and they are stunning in beauty and emotional value. We spend more time looking around in the hotel than in any other hotel and enjoyed it.

We were sorry to leave but will certainly come back - and oh yes, it's not cheap, but certainly worth the price.

Hotels in Sweden are expensive and Lydmar is no exception but compared to The Grand Hotel, virtually next door to Hotel Lydmar, it is a bargain. A small hotel with rooms of all shapes and sizes, some overlook the Lake and others not. The rooms are clean and comfortable as you would expect. I was given a room with a small annexe that could work as a work area. There was a bit of a view but not of the lake. The breakfast is the typical Swedish type with lots of good bread and herring. The dinner, again expensive, was also excellent. Staff is very helpful and of course have impeccable English.

Room Tip: Beg to get a room with water views

If you are a Frequent traveler be it business or leisure - you probably value the hotels with a bit of personality and edge - this is Lyrmar. Not cheap but if you can afford it and value those things that makes a hotel stay something to remember then this is the place for you. We're locals and have around 100 hotel nights a year mostly high end business travel - when we want a retreat a weekend away from the kids or have friends coming to town we always go back to Lydmar.

I love this Hotel. It has the most stunning views of Stockholm, with excellent service. The rooms are lovely, but the small ones can be dark. It is amazing winter and summer. Don't want to leave.

Room Tip: The larger rooms are wonderful, some of the smaller rooms are quite dark.
