I've stayed fro 4 days and had a very pleasent time, the staff was very helpful even pointing me out places to go for lunch and nightlife. The place is very clean and very little noise. The kitchen is very huge and with free pasta in case you're hungry. Realle recommended.

A very good, clean hostel with very friendly and helpful staff. Tube station round the corner, supermarkets and restaurants everywhere - not to mention the cute little bakery up the street that offers great breakfasts. Reasonable room prices, very quiet atmosphere.
Will be back!

In an interesting area of town with a lot of fun night life. Very clean, organized, private-feeling beds in 12 person room. Facilities were very nice as well. Very nice kitchen to buy and cook your own food (esp since Stockholm is very expensive) Would definitely recommend staying here!

Room Tip: 12 person room was perfect for me, traveling alone. Slept very well, everyone was respectful!

We had a very good experience at Skanstulls. The kitchen is very well stocked and the staff were exceedingly friendly/helpful. The metro is a two minute walk away and downtown is easily accessible. The prices seem outrageous at first but that's just part of being in Sweden. We would definitely stay here again.

Pros: The rooms are great - small, clean, comfortable beds. You have your own light and you feel very much in your own cocoon. Free Wifi.

Cons: You have to pay for sheets; no breakfast. The worst (for me), was that there was really no social room other than the kitchen. Supposedly they are opening something at the end of the year, but it was the World Cup and we were forced to watch on our laptops (before going out, of course).

NOTE: The South Island is NOT "hipster" or "bohemian" - I have no idea why guide books say that. Maybe for Sweden it is, but not for the rest of the world.

So expect a nice experience, but not terribly social. Depends what you want.
