Description: From market trader to purveyor to His Majesty the King. It all began in the early 1920s. Fisherman's daughter Lisa Elmqvist traded her wares at a street market by the waterfront, and customers quickly flocked to her stall. Her fish, shellfish and cookery skills were of such a high standard that she swiftly moved up to Ostermalms Saluhall - the perfect place to allow her ability to shine through. Today, 90 years later, the fourth generation of the Elmqvist family continues her work assiduously from the same stall, gaining more and more experience and ambitions. The restaurant has recommendations in Guide Michelin for the last 10 years in a row. During the renovation of the old market hall from 1888 you will find us at the temporary market hall at Ostermalstorg. We will move back summer 2018.

We saw good reviews from tripadvisor and wanted to come have a look, the location pointed with the tripadvisor app is wrong by the way, took us on a 30min walk detour! Anyways, we arrived in time for late lunch and ordered the shrimp toast and the salmon tartare, both were very fresh and delicious! Environment was not very special, it's within a food hall and market, a little bit overpriced if considering the setting but good food nonetheless.

There are lots of other great options in Stockholm.
We picked up a flyer just outside of this restaurant advertising 10% off all meals. After we presented it to our server, she said " that was only for certain Russian visitors" and refused to honor it. You must be kidding? Is this the new cold war? Any well managed restaurant would have simply honored it. After all, they printed it and put it out for advertisement.

I went there for a late lunch, based on recommendations from Trip Advisor and Lonely Planet and I was not disappointed to have saved a bit of money to try this amazing and famous restaurant. The place in itself, inside the Saluhall is great experience with all those delicatessen.
I try a salmon tartar with trout roe, home made chips, sour cream and a nice salad for a starter with a great white wine from Argentina. Amazing! but then comes the beautiful seered arch (or red trout) in a creamy sauce with Sichuan pepper and leeks: this was one of the best dish I ever ate in my life.
Only the menu will make you dream with the choice of wonderfully fresh fish and sea food. So dreamy that it is difficult to chose.
It is a little expensive but for the quality 100% worth it.
I will come back if i have the chance to travel back to Stockholm! Worth every penny.

A very good selection of dishes from all kinds of fresh fish in a very nice setting in the Market Hall. The wine selection matches the food, with some nice surprises if you dare to ask.

Based upon previous reviews I knew I had to try this place. It is located in a food hall in Ostermalm - and what a place! We went at lunch - which really means, for the Swedes, about 12 or even before! The place was absolutely bustling - which shoppers but also locals getting their main meal of the day. The produce on offer is fantastic, the food hall looks fantastic and everyone is enjoying their food from all the different vendors.

Now onto Lisa Elmqvist - we were shown to a large table and was asked if we mind sitting with others. As we were early we were seated first but was soon joined by two other swedish couples. Fresh assorted bread was brought to the table and tap water provided. The bread was warmed and very, very good. There was a dark, treacle like bread which was absolutely delicious. We opted for the herring selection plate and what a selection! The herring was full of flavour, lovely texture and very, very fresh. The accompaniments - cheese, bread, roe - were fantastic too - I never knew Herring was so delicious. I opted for the fried salted herring and so did our fellow Swedish diners. The herring here was very salty, but again the fish was very fresh and cooked beautifully in its crispy shell. It was a very filling lunch and we hoped to go back to sample more of their menu - but alas, we ran out of time. We will definitely be back here when we return to Stockholm - but do not miss the opportunity to eat here. It is a wonderful experience and the food served is of the highest standard.
