“Interesting”

A small collection, some famous artists and a lot of the strange. If you like modern art and are visiting Stockholm in the winter, this is one of the few museums open late on a weeknight.

“Great building, mediocre collection”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

We thought the building itself was great, with rooms that seemed purpose built to display contemporary art (which of course they were not).
But some of the lighting was so poor as to wreck the prospects of being able to see certain works at their best - the worst example was a dark work by the Italian artist Fontana where the reflections from the overhead lights completely obscured the subtlety of the work.
To be honest, much of the work by non-Swedish artists were fairly mediocre examples of each artist's work, and some of the Swedish work was of very limited interest. Sorry, but it was a surprisingly disappointing visit.

“Neither Good Food nor Good Value”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

We went on a Saturday at about 2pm, and found restaraunt packed, and in confusion. There are 2 lines....one is a buffet for walk-ins, and the other a large, crowded line for people with "reservations", or so we were told. Since we had no reservations, we were directed to sit in a corner of the restaraunt which was full, so we sat at a long picnic type table. For about the equivalent of $35-40 USD, we each got a lukewarm bowl of soup, a tiny plate of lettuce, a thin slice of french loaf, a cup of juice, and we split a nougat bar for dessert.

Soup would have been excellent if hot and the stingy serving of french bread was delicious, but the noise and commotion and exhorbitant price just made this a "meh" experience.

Just for the record, our lunch the day before at the Vasa Museum was pricey as well, but worth every penny. Great food and atmosphere. This museum cafeteria should take lessons.

“Super nice cafe”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

Interesting, delicious food artistically presented, and a nice outdoor patio (mind the seagulls!). We found all the museums we visited had really decent cafes.

“Standard Museum Catering”
Reviewed June 12, 2012

It's the same kind of canteen you get in most museums these days. The vege option was pasta when we went - very plain - but the fish course of char was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed the rich and plain chocolate cake, and all the main courses came with a free plate of salad.
