Overall a nice restaurant that is reasonably priced for Stockholm and serves well cooked traditional Swedish dishes.

Myself and two friends turned up without a reservation and were seated straight away.

Venue is traditionally decorated - think Swedish beer hall and you pretty much get the idea.

Food was nice, my friends both had meatballs which were a hearty portion and very filling. I had the salmon which was also nice. Good value for what you get.

Atmosphere is warm and chatty. We were seated in the main hall, so lots of tables and talking which was nice and not overpowering.

Service was poor. We asked for table water from a waiter and were told no because he wasn't looking after our table. Food takes a long long time to turn up but is nice when it does so i suggest you order starter to fill the time.

During summer the restaurant does not take bookings - Swedes tend to eat around 7-7.30 so get in early to avoid a queue. That said you can have a drink outside while you wait so not the end of the world.

We really enjoyed our meal at the Pelikan. It was our second night in Stockholm and we made sure to share everything and we loved it all. This gave us our first experience of pickled Herring and it was surprisingly good. The meatballs were excellent and the fish was as well. Would go back if ever I was in Stockholm again.

Sought out local food while on holiday. Interior is from a period long ago but is none the less a good thing. The menu is comprehensive with a choice of specials and a good choice of draft beers at a reasonable price. The food is nicely presented and is largely local cuisine. Service is very friendly and informative. Easily accessible on foot from central Stockholm and also served by public transport.

We eat here on our first night in Stockholm. It serves proper Swedish fayre in massive portions. They also have a good selection on local beers to try - which is a must as wine in Sweden is so expensive. If you want to try some real Swedish food this is a must.

Walked over an hour to get here--totally worth it. I had the meatballs; they were huge and filling, delicious. Not horribly expensive (compared to other places in Sweden) Would definitely come back.
