“Good Hotel, Good Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013

Visiting my daughter who is studying at Linnaeus University. Good hotel - walking distance from train, but no noise and safe area. Near church and town square. Very convenient. Hotel is in good condition, clean rooms, wood floors. Rooms and beds are small, but it is a typical Swedish hotel. Great Swedish buffet included in price of room - meats, cheeses, breads, cereal, coffee 5 kinds of juice, muffins, cookies, lots of yogurt, jams, cucumber, herring, tomato, some hot sausage, hard boiled eggs, coffee and tea, etc. Hotel prices in Sweden are expensive. If internet site says hotel is full, contact hotel directly. I paid $149 for a single room in April -- clean nice dorm room. Nice bath with granite counter top. Fitness center available at nearby gym. Helpful and courteous front desk staff.

My wife and I stayed one night at the hotel while we were visiting our son at Linnaeus University. The front desk was very helpful and efficient. The room was very nice and clean. There was a very large bathtub that helped after many days of walking. The bed was comfortable. We have stayed in similar hotels that had smaller rooms.
The location is great if you come into Vaxjo by train. The hotel is just a short walk to the station and you can get a taxi or bus from that location. Vaxjo itself is very nice to walk around in even thought we were there over Easter and Easter Monday and there were not a lot of shops open.
For us, the breakfast was amazing. The buffet was full of wonderful items to eat. My wife liked the variety of fruits, yogurt and breads. I liked the eggs and meat.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Vaxjo.

We stayed here in late July 2012. We were here for 6 days as we were visiting family in the area. The hotel was walking distance to everything within the city - the malls, coffee shops, train station, buses and walking around the lake daily was great.

Breakfast was the usual Swedish standards, coffee was lovely, never tried sour milk before and I found it a unique experience. We had 2 rooms, a sleeping suite with bathroom and the main room where the TV, fridge and cupboards were. Compact and comfy. The best part was again, having direct access from the hotel straight down into Bishop's Arms. So of course we had a couple of meals there.

Free tea and coffee in the foyer, the only issue was waiting for staff at the front desk in the evening if you had problems. Laundry was expensive, but we did do a fair amount of handwashing. We had one of their top floor rooms so we had views to the Cathedral (An experience!) and of course, the lake. There are hoons that use the carpark in the evenings at night, but you don't really hear them when it's time to sleep.

I would definitely stay there again.

Good hotel. Just stayed one night. Nice architecture.
I had a large room,
the breakfast buffet is large, continental, with lots of choice
the restaurant of the hotel is a good option for dinner
The pub next door ( possible access from inside the hotel, but a bit a maze ) is very pleasant and lively, even during week days

The hotel is in the city center and near the train station. The breakfast is really great.
The only problem is that the rooms are too small. If you are big, you have to ask for a large room otherwise you will have problems sleeping!

A very good location, easy to find when you arrive at the railway station. And from the hotel it is easy to find the path along the lake towards the Linné university, if you prefere to walk half an hour instead of taking the bus.
The breakfast is really excellent and also contains some cakes, for those who may need it in the end together with a cup of coffee. You enjoy the breakfast looking at the people walking outside the hotel. The staff was friendly..
The room was very good and quiet. Some larger birds started to quarrel exactely when the alarm clock called in the morning. If they start at sun set in the summer, this may cause early noise.

Situated right in the center of town 300meters from the train station this hotel is very convenient. Our room (257) was large and had obviously been remodelled recently but was strangely situated off the main corridor and up a flight of steps (10 rooms along this corridor). The reception staff were helpful on the whole but some of them had limited English and when a business associate called they refused to take a message which was very strange. The breakfast was very good except for the very bitter coffee.

Room Tip: If you have mobility problems make sure you do not get a 50-60 room
