“Very good hotel, walking distance from railway station”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

Good hotel. Just stayed one night. Nice architecture.
I had a large room,
the breakfast buffet is large, continental, with lots of choice
the restaurant of the hotel is a good option for dinner
The pub next door ( possible access from inside the hotel, but a bit a maze ) is very pleasant and lively, even during week days

The hotel is in the city center and near the train station. The breakfast is really great.
The only problem is that the rooms are too small. If you are big, you have to ask for a large room otherwise you will have problems sleeping!

A very good location, easy to find when you arrive at the railway station. And from the hotel it is easy to find the path along the lake towards the Linné university, if you prefere to walk half an hour instead of taking the bus.
The breakfast is really excellent and also contains some cakes, for those who may need it in the end together with a cup of coffee. You enjoy the breakfast looking at the people walking outside the hotel. The staff was friendly..
The room was very good and quiet. Some larger birds started to quarrel exactely when the alarm clock called in the morning. If they start at sun set in the summer, this may cause early noise.

Situated right in the center of town 300meters from the train station this hotel is very convenient. Our room (257) was large and had obviously been remodelled recently but was strangely situated off the main corridor and up a flight of steps (10 rooms along this corridor). The reception staff were helpful on the whole but some of them had limited English and when a business associate called they refused to take a message which was very strange. The breakfast was very good except for the very bitter coffee.

Room Tip: If you have mobility problems make sure you do not get a 50-60 room

I have been staying at this hotel for years and always enjoy the hospitality. Staff is friendly, rooms are very nice and always clean. Bishops Arms is a great place for a drink and pub food. Open when most other places are closed. Best hotel in town and located close to the main street in town.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the "new" rooms.

I stay in a lot of hotels around the world and there are things I look for above all else, a good night sleep and friendly staff; everything else is just dressing. I have no complaints about the staff, they were all professional if not as 'smiley' as some. Unfortunately the sleep was an issue, the rooms look fantastic but the beds are so soft it is unbelievable and the pillows whilst looking plump loose all their filling to the extremities when you lie on them. If you are a light sleeper the walls are very thin so you can hear the next room which doesn't help.

I have stayed here twice and on both occasions been given a room with a large corner bath with an overhead shower, great for a soak but no good for a shower due to the lack of a shower curtain.

The breakfast was definately not to my liking, the cereals were not nice, the cooked breakfast is very European with hotdogs and mushy scrambled eggs.

The hotel is also very expensive. I think I would try other hotels in the area next time.

Stayed at this hotel two seperate times totalling three nights in August. The rooms were modern, clean, nicely decorated and appointed, and fairly spacious. The breakfast buffet was very good. The location was about four blocks from the train/bus station; and in the downtown area. This made things very walkable The front desk personnel were usually tucked behind the desk, but were helpful if you approached them.
The only downside was the cost, at $250 USD a night I couldn't bring myself to stay a fourth night ($1,000 dollars total). If I had a car I definitely would have tried to find something a little less pricey.
