I should start by saying that in the year I've lived in Sweden, I've been largely turned off by Swedish food. Too much cream, mayo, and ready-made sauces for my tastes. So when I give this 5 out of 5, it's because Restaurang Genuin has changed my opinion of Swedish cuisine and probably spoiled me for life.
I've been twice so far and can't wait to return. Whereas many Swedish kitchens tend to be heavy-handed with ingredients, RG focuses on subtlety. There's nothing I've ordered that I haven't loved. They make a calf liver that will challenge your concept of liver. Their seafood stew is wholesome, fresh, and comforting but without going over the top on cream. The wait staff is hands-on yet unobtrusive, delivering smart recommendations on food and wine pairings. They even introduced us to some local spirits. And you get all this for a price that is comparable to most other (far less memorable) restaurants in Malmö.
I take my out-of-town friends here for dinner and I suggest you do the same. Best to call in for a reservation, especially on weekends. It can get a little loud and even a bit wild on a Friday or Saturday night, but I don't count that as a bad thing.
The only reason I marked Atmosphere as a 3 is the music. The first time we went, it was background downtempo stuff -- just right. The second time, it was Top 40 radio pop. Bleh! Not the worst thing ever, but it'd be nice to see that fixed.
