I stayed with 7 other people for a conference in Malmo. Everyone had a great experience with this hotel and staff. The rooms were nice, beds comfortable, free internet in the rooms or there is one computer in the lobby for guests to use. The breakfast was the best part of the stay. We tended to stay away from the caviar and other more Scandanavian dishes, but there was also scrambled eggs, bacon, fresh yogurt, dried fruits, breads with jams and everything is organic. The staff was helpful with any questions or concerns we had, and the hotel was located about one block from Central Station and in a beautiful part of the city.

The Scandic Kramer is a terrific hotel on all counts. It's perfectly located, on the central square in the middle of the old city, and a couple of hundred feet from the central station. It is a beautiful old building, with a grand lobby (and a grand staircase, though there is of course a lift). We loved the rooms (stayed two nights, at the beginning of a Swedish driving tour and at the end).
We stayed in the part of the hotel that was redone sometime in the 20's or 30's, and has lots of wonderful slightly deco dark polished woodwork. The storage etc. is all built in, with lots of mirrors and marble (in the bath). The ceilings were high, the beds very comfortable, and everything absolutely clean. The bathtub on our second stay was a bit difficult to negotiate, but looked terrific. Internet, TV, ironing equipement, frig, hair dryer -- everything worked like a charm. There is another part of the hotel that is not done in the woodwork-deco style, which is I expect less eccentric and (to my taste) less charming.
The best part of all was the staff. We had to have a very important document sent to us from the States, and it was slightly misaddressed, so I got an undeliverable email from UPS. The Kramer staff -- at their own suggestion --called UPS in Malmo for us and sorted the whole thing out. I was very, very grateful. The front desk was also terrific about directions, restaurants, etc. etc. etc. Lovely and helpful people.

All the quality and amenities you would expect of a 4 star hotel.

A good night sleep is assured: comfy bed, clean and reasonably spacious room, however, the bath is a bit of a challenge. Be nimble, be careful.

Free wireless - excellent provision.

Generous breakfast buffet.

Excellent location - surrounded by restaurants; 5 mins walk to the train station.

Highly recommended.

All the best.

Very easy to find when you arrive at Malmö central station, just cross the canal and you'll see the hotel over the street on your right. Kramer is located on Stortorget, so you're right in the heart of the city. The hotel is a beautiful old building and the interior is very old-fashioned, but looks nice, it's like you've stepped back in time.

My room was up in the third floor (there are 4 floors in the hotel) and when I first opened the door I was surprised to see how big the room was! It was an economy room for single use, so I was expecting something very small, but it was more spacious than some double rooms I've stayed in. Even with a double bed there would still be a lot of space. Got a great deal on Scandic website and paid only 495 SEK (~52 EUR) / night for a single room which was a real bargain I think.

Bathroom was quite spacious as well, with a bath tub. When I took a shower the whole bathroom floor flooded for a while.

The room had only one small window and you could only see the roof of the neighbouring building. No a/c, but you could open the window and since it was so high there was no street noise.

I had to catch an early train back to the airport so didn't get a chance to eat breakfast. But you can always trust on Scandic breakfast and I don't think Kramer is an exception.

The name has nothing to do with Cosmo Kramer in Seinfeld. This is an old hotel originally established by Fritz and Anna Kramer in 1877.

Kramer is located very centrally in Malmö and is perfect if you want to see the town. The hotel bar is very classic and has a short but good bar-meny including Kramer-burger, Club Sandwich and a typical swedish Pytt i Panna (meat and potatoes, chopped and fried).

I stayed in a "superior" room with a twin bed. The room was very clean with dark brown wood style and a green marble bathroom. Lots of mirrors. Wireless internet is available in every room at a surcharge. Minibar with snacks, water, wine, beer. TV with the standard set of channels as well as pay-per-view.

The bathroom was the strangest I've experienced so far. The bathtub is elevated and you have to be fit to be able to climb into it. Well, it's even more difficult to climb back.

As I like shower cubicles this was a downer. Sitting in a bathtub with just a handheld shower is a big minus. No amenities in form of small bottles with shampoo, body lotion or bath gel. Instead just a standard wallmounted soap dispenser.

I think the room was air conditioned but no control in the room. It appeared to be managed centrally.

Located a short stroll from the railway station on a big square in an old beautiful building. Check in was easy and our room on the third floor (the top floor) had a nice view of the street and square. The bed was comfy, the bathroom was big and the shower was great. The staff were nice and friendly and all spoke English (probably better than me!) A good idea is to have breakfast in bed, it costs a little extra, but is well worth it.

I'd stay here again in a heart beat.

LOCATION: 5 minutes walk from the train station; as you enter Stortorget from the train station it is to your right. Prime location, and quiet at night.

ROOM: Comfortable bed, adequate cleanliness, minibar, TV, shower working perfectly, no problem with amenities. I did have a problem with the decor. My room was almost entirely covered with mirrors. Quite disorientating as I wasn't used to seeing so many reflections of myself. Coming back at night was frightening - it looked as though someone else was in my room!

STAFF: Had minimal contact but the receptionists seemed friendly enough, and spoke good English. If you come back late at night and find the main door locked, worry not; ring the bell and you will be allowed in. I guess it's just a safety measure.

INTERIOR: Lavishly decorated reception area. Lift was working fine though the obsession with mirrors continues.

FOOD: Meals are very expensive and not really worth it, as there are many better options in the town. Minibar snacks are extortionate, but that seems to be the norm with Scandinavian hotels. Fruit is available at the front desk. Breakfast was of good quality but basic and lacking in variety.

BOTTOM LINE: Definitely worth a couple of nights, a good idea if you want to visit Malmo and Copenhagen but don't want to stay in Denmark. Have been to better hotels in Malmo but would use this one again.
