“Hotel Kramer”
Reviewed May 17, 2014

I stayed in Hotel Kramer in Malmö in Jan. This hotel is facing “Stortorget” and 200m walk from train station. Hotel is in a building from 1875 with a grand facade. On the square there are parking lots for a fee and I am not sure if hotel has own parking facility as I have been driving here.

When entering the lobby you find the soon 150 year old charm - old, well maintained and elegant. The room was in old style with writing desk, bed, chair, TV and wifi. All working as it is supposed to.

Bath room was orgy of mirrors and black stone tiles. It was a bit too much and especially that I had to climb up to the bath tub with shower, It was also a bit funny that it was possible to open up a part of the wall towards the bed room.

Everything normally found for breakfast was available. Breakfast was at the ground floor overlooking the square and this was a cold morning and several heaters were running as normal heating system was not sufficient. Nothing bad with this as it was warm and through the glass walls it was possible to see people passing in the early morning.

I found Hotel Kramer very nice and could happily stay here again.

Overall an average Scandic stay. I had a single room at the 3rd floor. Rooms and bathrooms are dated but I found it kind of cozy. Breakfast was good, nice seating area. Old beautiful hallway. Close to railway station and city center shops.

Stayed at Kramer the day before Christmas Eve and at this time of the year, Malmö is a wonderful place to visit, the weather was snowy, cold and very romantic, and staying in this nice charming hotel could not be a better place to be. The hotel is located just in the middle of the city centre, could not be more central. The reception staff was very helpful and friendly, the hotel was rather quiet, only people that were to visit family in Malmö during Christmas stayed. We got upgraded to a Superior Extra room which was very very nice, although old, it had a certain charm to it and we enjoyed our stay fully. Nothing to criticize, only good things. Thanks Scandic Kramer for a nice stay, we will definitely come back, should we ever visit Malmö again.

I stayed at this hotel on a business trip with some colleagues. We used their conference facilities and they were fine. The staff was very accommodating and quickly accommodated of requests. The rooms are decorated in two
distinctive styles - Swedish country style and English country style. I was unfortunate enough to get a single room decorated in English country style. The decor was really dated with loads of dark green marble and scruffy looking stained wood furniture and trim. It also featured what my colleagues and I nicknamed a porn mirror that wrapped around the entire bed -perfect for the single businessman?! Some of my colleagues stayed in the Swedish rooms and they were much nicer. This hotel apparently has a collaboration with Jamie Oliver but it's not really noticeable. Our lunch was pretty average with an especially bland tomato soup and some very fatty pork. The only Jamie Oliver twist was the sun-dried tomatoes in the loaf of bread I had for breakfast. The breakfast buffet is okay but nothing special. The hotel is conveniently located close to the central station and just in the beginning of the main shopping street.

No shower in the room and smelled like a steakhouse. Staff not really interested in helping out and said the room was above the kitchen and thus it smelled like one.
The location is great though, just make sure you get a room with a shower and that it is not above the kitchen.

I am sorry that you did not enjoy your experience with us upon your last stay. I hope that you will choose to stay with us again in order to give us a opportunity to show how good we really are. I would be grateful if you contact me direct as I do not understand the missing shower. Majority of our rooms has bath with shower and a few rooms with just a shower. Once again welcome back upon your next visit and please contact me direct so I can look after your reservation.

Spent one night at this hotel, primarily because of it's location in the city centre of Malmo. The hotel is just a few steps away from the central railway station, making it very easy to reach from Copenhagen airport.

The magnificent hotel exterior hides a slightly quirky ‘old dame’, as the hotel has rooms in two distinct styles: Scandinavian and English. My room was Scandinavian in design, and was furnished and decorated very pleasantly. The high ceiling made the room feel much larger than it was. As is often the case with city hotels, there was no real view to speak of. My only gripe with the room itself would be that the queen size bed had two single duvets, instead of one queen-sized duvet.

The bathroom, on the other hand, was very small and somewhat outdated. There were also some maintenance and mould issues here that really aren’t acceptable for a hotel of this standard.

Service was very good and personable. Check-in was efficient and friendly. When leaving the hotel at 6am the next morning there was a small assortment of breakfast articles waiting for me (breakfast starts at 7am), which I felt was great service!

Thank you for your kind words about our grand lady! We do work hard to keep the rooms and fascilities in shape but still maintain the historical value of the building. Breakfast is an area which is in constant focus and we are currently taking measures to upgrade the breakfast room. During 2012 we renovated all our rooms on the Scandinavian side, however the bathrooms were not included. Next step of renovation, which will be only bathrooms, is currently on the drawing table. I hope that we will see you back with us soon again!

My wife, son and I took a two week trip to Denmark and Sweden in late July, early August. We were returning via train from Boda Sweden to Copenhagen. We decided to stop in Malmo without a reservation. We got off of the train with no hotel in mind and were very happy to find this place.

This was a beautiful find. We found the room to be very comfortable, very modern, clean and family friendly. The only knock on this place was the fact that there was one person at the reception. Not bad if you are not in a hurry, but if you are, expect to wait. On the other hand, when it is your turn, you will get first class service with a smile!

Room Tip: Breakfast is included...an awesome selection of foods!
