“Great hotel - grand dame style”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

Two night stay here - booked stay plus with offer of choice of extras on checkin - chose an upgrade - got massive suite with large bathroom, huge king bed with turret room, sofa, chaise long, desk and lots of space.

Great hotel - breakfast was ok (not quite as good as sister hotel in Stockholm that came from), food in restaurant was decent albeit at Swedish prices - ouch! Wifi was free, but very poor connection in room - only downside.

Hotel says has mini-gym and recommended walking to sister hotel 10 mins away - i tried it here and was fine, one cross-trainer but free weights, lots of space and sauna. Perfect for me.

Hotel interior is modern, but this is an old hotel so slightly noisy on front (no double glazing, but lots of radiators) but you get used to it.

Room Tip: If worried about noise ask to be away from street

This hotel is in a great location just over the bridge from the railway station. Very grand looking inside and out. Room was well appointed and ensuite was modern and stylish. Breakfast was very good with a substantial buffet and good variety of foods. Staff polite.

Stayed for only one night in Malmo which is far more value for money than Copenhagen; and convenient if you don´t mind a 30 min.trainride from CPH. The Savoy is located adjacent to the Central Trainstation in a classical building with the original 30´s decor. I lreally liked the brasserie Café le fil du Rasoir serving typical French fares in a classic artdeco decor. Very busy place for locals! On the other a cosy Bishop Arms Pub with a sparate library style room.
My singel room was small, comfy and equipped with all necessities in a modern style.

I was tourguide for a group last weekend and i think we made an excellent choice choosing this hotel. Location is very central, close to train station, the main square (Stortorget) and the nice bars at Lila Torg. If you want to go out, within 7 minutes walk there are a few clubs to go to. Shopping is easy, everything within 10 minutes.
Should you want to do the sights in Malmö, buy a 24 hour card or take the taxi (to Folkets Park is around 14 euros).
Front desk staff was very cooperative (mr Gunnar, mr Anders) and gave more than enough information to get around in the area.
I had a standard single room which was -for a standard room- very OK. A shower, single bed, desk, TV, minibar, enough closet room...couldn't have asked for more.
They also have superior and deluxe rooms.
Breakfast was excellent, lots of choices, a bit strange that the croissants were behind the coffee machine (in the bar area) and not with the rest of the bread (in an adjacent space), but hey, once you have found it, eat away!
Having looked around in the centre area, i would not make another choice next time.

Factoring in hotel prices in Sweden this is a very good value excellent quality hotel that I have returned to.

It is located just across the street from the train station and on the edge of the pedestrian area to walk into the centre of town (5-10 minutes). The rooms at the front have views over the canal.

Breakfast is a self service buffet but high quality with plenty of choice in the nice bar area.

On the top floor of the hotel is a free sauna and gym. You just have to ask in reception for them to turn on the sauna. The equipment and sauna were in excellent condition and super clean.

One thing to note is that on the Saturday night that we stayed at about 2:00am a nightclub across the road started up with the speakers outside. It was very loud and once woken by it we could not get back to sleep. We eventually called the reception to see if we could move to a quieter room. The phone call went through to another hotel in the chain just down the road where the kind receptionist offered us a room in that hotel for the rest of the night, leaving our clothes in Savoy. We thought this was superb service as the loud music was not the hotel's fault , but they solved it for us.

The next time I am in Malmo, I will stay in this hotel, but if it was a Saturday night, I would ask for a room not overlooking the canal.

Room Tip: On a Saturday night in summer ask for a room not looking over the canal.

Many thanks for the review and for sharing your thoughts about Elite Hotel Savoy. My apologies for the inconvenience having to swap hotels, on the other hand it's an advantage to have another hotel close by when something like this happens.

We look forward welcoming you again the next time you visit Malmö.

This hotel is right in the middle of Malmo - the main station is across some water, convenient but not intrusive. The front of the hotel is an older (but well maintained) building to which a new section has been added at the rear - there is a half floor difference between the levels but the rooms are very clearly marked. Each set of buildings has its own lift connected by stairs and a walkway.
Check in was swift and friendly, the room though not that large was just spotless with one of the most comfortable beds I have had recently. Everything was well laid out, the wi fi is free and works solidly throughout the building. There is a tea making facility in the room. The bathroom was simple but again sparkling and with a nice shower. The tv coverage is mainly Scandinavian, with only CNN and perhaps one other international channel for UK or US visitors but why watch tv when there is such a characterful bar on the ground floor?
The dinner at the company event I attended was excellent, and breakfast had a nice variety of almost everything. The meeting room facilities are good with rooms with real windows that you can open and open sandwiches which were worth the journey. There is a very relaxed feel about the hotel yet everything works well.
We returned to Copenhagen airport in about 45 minutes or so outside the rush hour - apparently we were fortunate that the high winds did not close the bridge. Road signs for Copenhagen are not that clear in central Malmo so it's worth checking your route before leaving.
A lovely hotel that I think we will be using again.

Room Tip: Only the rooms at the front of the hotel have a view of any note - over the bridges to the station...

We stayed for two nights in this hotel and it was like going back fifty years to how hotels used to be in Britain. The service was excellent and the staff courteous and helpful. Despite being opposite the Central Station (which makes it so easy to find if you are travelling by train) it was quiet and very comfortable in a quaint old fashioned way. Our room was huge and we had great breakfasts in the room which doubled up as a restaurant in the evening serving reasonably priced meals, bearing in mind you are in Sweden which is eye-wateringly expensive. We had a lovely stay and can recommend this for a couple of night while you explore delightful Southern Sweden
