Description: Welcome to Restaurant Camp Ripan... ...and welcome to the exciting city of Kiruna, where the Swedish, Sami and Torne Valley Finnish cultures meet. Most of our produce comes from our three cultural regions, something we would like to tell you more about. Every dish has its own history. We know where the reindeer wandered and the fish were caught. Our kitchen follows the seasons - all eight of them. Completely according to the ageold Sami traditions. Our dishes are prepared with care, following traditional recipes and spiced with new twists and influences from around the world Restaurang Ripan strives to always choose the most eco-friendly and ethical alternative. Our coffee is eco-certified and we no longer serve bottled carbonated water. The water we serve comes from pristine glacier-fed rivers and is praised as the purest and besttasting in the world. Our goal is to give you a dining experience that moves your senses. Enjoy your meal!

We really enjoyed our dinner at Camp Ripan, but it wasn't somewhere we could afford to eat at more than once during our stay. Food was well prepared local fare.
We had he smoked reindeer appetizer (underwhelming - would not get this again) and the moose roulade and reindeer filet for mains. The mains were both very good. The biggest complaint we have is the lack of vegetables served. both mains (and the starter too) consisted of meat and starch with no substantial vegetable side. Nor was there any salad or veggie option on the menu. certainly not a restaurant if you don't eat meat (there were fish options).

We stayed at Camp Ripan for 2 nights. We ate dinner on the second night. I had the topside of moose which was a great way to try the moose.

Utter let down and was hoping for such a better evening

The waitress was completely inexperienced which was temporarily made up for with the starter

Had to ask for bread

Ordered wine to be told choice not available but no offer of alternative or menu to choose one

Had to ask for the menu

Starter Beautifully presented by the chefs and really nice

Plates and cutlery cleared away

Mains arrived ( no cutlery ).

Ask for cutlery

3x moose mains STONE cold
1x filet steak - lovely

Complained and moose mains removed and re done

The person finished the steak before the moose mains reappeared over cooked - maybe to teach us a lesson

Complained and had the steak knocked off the bill

Bill arrived - no deduction !

A knife was on the floor for 20 mins and waitresses walked past and couldn't be bothered to pick it up despite blatantly looking at it

Could have been so nice but actually was really crap !

Food from the menu was quite nice (although I wouldn't rave about it to the same extent as other reviews), but as others have said virtually nothing for kids (and our kids are pretty good eaters). The buffet at night was really limited (eg. bread, salad, meat, potatoes) and was below average quality. All very expensive. Breakfasts were fine. It is quite a formal atmosphere, and kids (even if they are quiet and well behaved) are not catered for at all or welcomed. If you are staying at Camp Ripan, self-cater, if not then don't expect any child-friendliness.

A bonus to eat at this restaurant is that behind the buildings youll get a great view of the northern light. The restaurant it self is expensive, but good quality and in keep with the Swedish traditions
