We were 5 people (8 y.o. - 77 y.o.). Therefore, I worried about the severity of a dog sledge in the mid-winter. However, fortunately, it was not so cold on that day. Also, the staff were friendly and very kind, and they took it easy on non-English speaking child and elderly person. Finally, all of us were satisfied with this adventure! They were very supportive about our transfer as well. Thanks a lot!

Oké, so Kenth convinced me to do the dogsled tour to the Arctic Lodge, and so we did. My god it was exciting! Arriving at the lodge we had the warmest welcome, beautiful lodge, clean, warm, cozy. Lovely food, nice sauna and hot tub, what an experience!

What an experience!! 250 km from Norway to Sweden! 36 dogs! and 6 sleighs!! in 6 days.
Having travelled and experienced good and bad organisations, I thoroughly recommend Kenneth Fjellborg and his team. They are very professional and everything is thought out and planned. It’s worth the cost because you really feel safe. Ana, our guide, reacted amazingly when a rouge or drunk drove with his skidoo into our daughters sleigh and she fixed it in minutes! We had amazing weather and it was an easy trip, but in high winds and storms you have to have endurance!

It was our family dream to go dog sledding for some time, firstly because we LOVE dogs and secondly because of the adventure! It took 2 years for this dream to came true, we had to wait for our youngest daughter to turn 18 years old and then… the trip was booked out! so another year went passed!
Finally I managed to book ( way in advance! ) and on the 16th of April 2019 we departed with a huge suitcase, better safe than sorry, to Tromso, in Norway.

Kenneth met us in the Scandic hotel and bought all the gear which we tried on: Coats, Bibs ( trousers) balaclava, hat boots and very warm gloves. And then for a traditional fish dinner where we tried differently ways cod can be cooked - delicious!

Early the next morning off we went by van to Signal Valley where we had lunch and were introduced to our lovely guide Ana and Ellen the amazing chef. Shorty thereafter we were off, each one with a sleigh, 5 dogs and the instructions of how to break and never, never let go to the sleigh…
The sleigh has a big space for food, stove, dog kitchen and our clothes which we packed in soft bags, provided by Fjellborg.

The dogs were just keen to run and we had to break most of the time, sometimes, going up hill we had to help them by pushing or just running up and taking our weight off the sleigh.

Fist up went Ana, with her 7 dogs and a big load, then our family and Ellen at the end.
We realised that we took far too many clothes but some things we did not think of and here comes the list of the extras I recommend to bring:
Gardening gloves : to cut up the dog food with is frozen and to feed the dogs! The dog sausages are quite greasy.
Tennis hat: the sun shines very low and a hat would shield this. over the hat I wore a woollen one as well.
Head torch ( to go toilet at night)
Lip balm and very good sun cream
Shoes to wear inside the cabin with socks ( crocs type is ideal )

After an exciting ride and constantly changing landscape we arrived at our first hut. Of course we had to look after the dogs, changing the harness, putting on coats for the night and feeding 36 dogs is quite a job but very rewarding. We had the luck of having a finish sauna ( wood fired) and with a ladle poor water over us. A good alternative to a shower.
Ellen cooked us a wonderful meal and already at 8pm we crawled into our bunkbeds…

The next morning we set out, Ana had already fed the dogs early, for them being able to digest and had a beautiful ride for about 6 hours with a picnic lunch in the sun. That night we slept in a fishing camp in Rostojávri and had our own hut with 2 bunk rooms -drop toilets always outside. There we met a Sami, the camp keeper. Again, Ellen cooked us a lovely meal and we fell into bed.

Our longest day we rode on various lakes, at the end we fell into a nice pace and finally did not have to break. Kenneth did drop some tents, and dog food at the end of Torneträsk ( lake) and we cooked on a fire on the bank of the lake and slept in our tents on the lake! Wonderful experience and sleep!

This day was a short drive/ride to the beautiful homestead of the Fjellborg family. Amazing sauna and a dip in the frozen lake! Then a luxury dinner with candlelight on a big table with other guest happen to be there too. This night each dog had a little wooden raised box they slept in!

Our last day was a 2 hour ride to the Kennels in Poikkijärvi, near Kiruna. The dogs new their way and were very happy to be home again. Ours was the last trip for the season.
After organising the dogs we said our good byes and Ana drove us the the Icehotel where we stayed for one night! Also a great experience !!!

I can only echo the comments made by the last reviewer. My wife and I also were guided by the tireless and thoughtful Damien for four days, three nights across the stark and beautiful Swedish country above the Arctic Circle. I don’t think that my wife stopped smiling the whole trip. Chef Ellen had us eating wonderful dishes each night, as well as delicious lunch stews that Damien cooked up over wood fires on the snow. We had each cabin or lodge location to ourselves, and each had a hot sauna ready for us, once by sending a helper out in advance by snowmobile so that all was set for our arrival. Other than that one employee, we really didn’t see another person out and about for three days. We want more!
