Take a drive around Fårø, the landscape, the coast, the old fishers village, the great formations made by the sea - it is an excuisit experience. This is Ingemar Bergmans country, where he lived and worked for many years.

Easy and quick to get there from Gotland/Farosund, takes 5 mins by the ferry (free), operated every half an hour, in summer more often. I visited on the west coast the incredible rock formations mainly which was the top attraction of our visit to Gotland. Went by car around the west coast in the afternoon and stopped at Gamla Hamn to admire the sunset. The most beautiful sunset I have ever seen. Orange, pink, lilac coulurs behind the "coffee pot shapped" rock formation. In Aug the sunset is between 8-9pm, do not miss it if you visit Gotland. Tip: w32 is the Medieval Week, when you can see also the medieval market and tournament in Visby (very attractive hansa town), whole day programs the whole week.

If you are a Bergman fan, do not miss visiting Faro, Gotland in Sweden, on Wednesdays there is a Bergman safari and they will take you around this beautiful island to places where some of his films were shot, Persona, Shame, Through the Glass Darkly, among them. Have lunch at the cozy Wild Strawberries cafe at the Bergmancenter.
The church dates from 1872 and you can visit his grave there.
