Owner description: Experience the unique joy of traveling along a railway line in your own powered self-drive railway vehicle, called a RailCruiser. The RailCruiser is a fully automated, state of the art petrol-electric four seat self-drive railway vehicle, with comfortable seats and unobstructed views. It is fitted with clear drop down waterproof sides. Departing from Mamaku Railway Station travel 10km through a majestic 1000 year old native forest, past rolling pastures with views out over Lake Rotorua to Tarukenga Railway Station. After a short break at Tarukenga whilst the RailCruisers are turned, you return in your RailCruiser back to Mamaku. Cruising along at 20km/hr, you can listen to the audio tour. This is the ultimate way to experience a railway.

We had guests coming from throughout the world to our wedding in Rotorua and decided to invite them all 60 plus to a pre-wedding function on the railcruisers followed by food and drinks at Mamaku Railway station. It was a fantastic afternoon, and everyone had a great time. Such a unique experience and a great way to see the countryside from a perspective you don't normally get to see. The rail cruisers themselves could sit 4 of us comfortably. Everyone had a great time, from the little kids, our friends and our parents too.

A must to experience when in Rotorua, and if you are looking to have a function, the station at Mamaku is a great venue.

It was great travelling in your own railcar and watching the scenery. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The onboard commentary is very informative and interesting. It didn't matter that it rained for part of the trip, though I kept the sides rolled up and it did get a bit cool, even though it was summer. I would recommend taking a jacket.

This unique ride through the New Zealand country side was brilliant. Such a great idea and a one of a kind experience. On the day that we were there there was filming for a promo spot so things were delayed, which was annoying, but the staff were very apologetic and handled it really well. This is a new business and it is something to go and look at. Personally it was a little expensive for the amount of time you were actually in the rail car (roughly about an hour) but a great experience non the less. I would recommend this activity to all. Good luck in building your business guys.

This is a trip through native New Zealand bush where few if any roads venture and is a real treat. The two staff we met went out of their way to make us welcome. It is a very professional and well organised experience that is well worth the time and money.
