This is a beautiful property & the positives are being able to borrow bikes which Robin happily lent us. We had a wonderful day cycling on a suggested route around a nearby Broad area. This was our first visit to the area & we enjoyed using the very useful maps & leaflets available in our cottage. There are several pubs within either walking/driving or cycling distance of the cottage, all very good & Robin advised us admirably! The cottage was very comfortable & the homemade bread & jam were much appreciated & the washing machine. Because we were from the other side of the world there was a slight difficulty in paying as the owners rely very much on internet banking. We paid from our UK bank account (to save ourselves fees) & it would have been helpful if they'd accepted a cheque as we are unable to set up internet banking on a sustainable basis. Cash was preferred so we had to gather the amount over the 4 days we stayed because of the daily withdrawal limit; we got there eventually! Also, if you're from overseas it's worth noting that one should check on what supplies to bring, such as loo rolls, as we were expected to provide after the first roll; Elena did concede it was tricky to carry such items when traveling widely in the UK & did provide another one for which we were grateful! I have to say that this was the only cottage out of 3 we stayed in that was stringent on such items. Elena was at the door at 9.45 on the morning of our leaving to ask how we were going (towards leaving the cottage). Definitely got the feeling we should be out on the dot of 10am. We never felt that pressure anywhere else & never have so maybe just a more relaxed approach would be more conducive with the holiday mood - we always aim to leave on time or certainly within 10 minutes or so but maybe people milk this in this area! The standard of cleanliness required seemed high in the literature, although I think we could have got away with less, but we really cleaned the place thoroughly ready for inspection. Bearing in mind the pretty high tarrif (there aren't many cottages of this size in the area) the towels were thin and if the weather had been any cooler, drying them each day would have been challenging as there was no heated towel rail, so if you're a local I suggest you bring your own towels - I guess we'd have used the dryer but identifying each one would have been tricky. Sorry to voice these negative points as overall our stay was wonderful but these comments are hopefully helpful for some folks. I've waited to review so I could compare with the other two cottages (also excellent) we stayed in & we've been recovering from jet lag! We had wonderful weather in this area, a nice change to elsewhere where it poured with rain some of the time. I'm clicking yes I'd recommend this property but with these provisos as they're not criticisms, just meant to be helpful :)
We chose this spot for the child's play area as we were travelling with a 2.5 yr old. It was well set up for children with lots of games, the Wendy / Cubby house and slide, and a large garden. The house is in a quiet rural area, with several local pubs on the river, and convenient for getting into Norwich. The hosts are lovely and were very kind to us when we mistook our leaving date! We were just enjoying it too much.
We rented both cottages the first week of August for multi-generational family and young children. Excellent accommodations, delightful enclosed garden with Wendy house and lawn for children. Three riverside pubs nearby. Small shop and sub-post office close by. Close to Norwich and easy access to the Broads or beach. Highly recommended!

we booked both cottages so we could holiday with friends. Robin and Elena were very helpful. Super accommodation. Great shared garden. Many beautiful villages around. Would love to go again.
I stayed at Surlingham lodge cottages in October 2011 for three nights with family during french school break and in march 2012 alone for business. I enjoyed both stays. Loads of interesting venues for kids around (kids really enjoyed Bewilderwood park and a boat trip on the broads). Quiet location in a small village ideal to explore western Norfolk. Norwich is 10 minutes away and the historical city center is very pleasant both for shopping and going out with family. The Broads and Norfolk coasts are nearby. A nice local pub close-by along the river serving traditional food and offering live music at week ends . A special mention to the modern-tasteful-high standard-cosy decoration of both cottages (I tried both). Owners Elena and Robin open, approachable and very helpful organizing our trips in Norfolk. Free access to a lovely garden with a tree-house. I highly recommend this cottages if you want quiet with a lot of excitement nearby.

We rented the studio suite and found it to be in pristine condition. The photograph does not do it justice. I wouild highly recommend the accommodation. Thanks to Elena for the delicious carrot cake (we were lucky as she was baking for her own visitors during our stay). The basic groceries were a nice touch too.
