“A hidden gem in the Lot!”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

A very busy bistro , offering good honest local food at a great price. A good mixture of locals and holiday makers, the locals support this restaurant which is always a good sign. A must have dish is the Bouilibase and the menu du jour must book for Sunday lunch, closed Sunday pm and all day Monday

“Old school value from a passed age”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

On our way to Monpazier we stopped for lunch in Cazals. Having looked at a few restaurants, we soon realised that every-one was eating at the Auberge de la Place, so we quickly joined them. The cheap set menu is an extraordinary 4 course meal for 12.5Euros including wine. Value of that sort has disappeared in much of France and I am amazed that they can do it at the Auberge de la place. The food is basic, but good, and the setting very attractive. Only complaint would be that the waitress was somewhat unsmiling, but it was very hot and we got there at the end of what by the looks of things had been a very busy lunchtime.

“Traditional French Auberge”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

Glad we booked for Sunday lunch as it was packed - mainly with locals. Efficient and friendly service and excellent traditional French country cooking. Just what you want from a village auberge. The Formule de Jour was 12E for 4 courses including wine and was excellent. Soup comes in a large bowl to help yourself and the cheeseboard is superb. All the food is really well prepared and the whole experience was a delight. We'll be back!

“Cosy family restaurant”

Good food, service and ambiance. My husband and I have been eating here occasionally for 23 years. This is a simple village auberge.

“What a find!”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

We stopped off in Cazals to break our journey and grab some lunch. I spotted this place and we headed in. We were there in February so it looked very quiet, it was packed with locals inside. We didn't fancy the menu de jour so I ordered steak frites, my husband had the confit and the children had the kids menu, steak hache and frites. Our food took a while to come but it was worth the wait, the burgers were home made and cooked perfectly, the chips were hand cut, home made, a huge pile of them. Excellent food and a great atmosphere.
