Excellent quality, low price, good atmosphere. Problem is the long queues so it is probably best going midweek (they don't make reservations).

I don't know why this place is not well known!!!! Its a beautiful restaurant about 10 km from Sintra, near the beach. You can sit outside or inside and most of the table, if not all, have a beautiful view of the ocean/beach/rocks. It's really beautiful! My husband and I were impressed by the beauty of the place. Food was great. Its a real fish place, almost everything has fish on the plate. Fish is fresh from the ocean, taste great and doesn't soak in oil or sauce. It's healthy and good. They serve good portion, staff was friendly. I really recommend this place. We went for lunch but I'm sure they are open at night too!

If you're looking for a quiet place with a nice view and sophisticated food turn away. There is a much better option in Azenhas do Mar right next to the beach.
In Adega das Azenhas one can find well made traditional portuguese food, with large portions good for two and at a fair price. You will pay no more than 20 euros for the whole meal with drinks and dessert!
The only letdown is the huge size of the room and the large number of locals that eat here regularly, making a lot of noise and putting the pressure on the waiters to deliver fast enough.
In the end it's a good option to eat.

We were recommended to this restaurant by one of the staff at the hotel where we were staying. We fiound it difficult to find and needed guidance from an extremely pleasant and helpful (if somewhat tipsy!!) local as it got him a lift home!

The restauarant is huge, and on arriving [at about 19.30] we were amazed to see at places laid for at least 100 - possibly 200 - diners in a huge and almost empty room. It soon filled up so that every table we could see was taken and the atmosphere was lively to say the least. Not somewhere for a romantic "diner-a-deux"!!

Many of the others seemed to be local Portuguese - which perhaps says volumes about the quality and value - but there were menus available in a variety of other languages including English. The helpful waiter recommended some daily specials that were not on any evident menu, and I took one of them ~ a delicious pork casserole with a spicy sauce.

The food was all cooked to order so there was a fair bit of a wait, but with te olive and bread nibbles time soon passed watching all the others. It was well worth waiting for! The portions were substantial so we only had a small dessert - a shame as some of the creamy creations looked magnificent. If only we'd had more time in the area we'd have come again and missed lunch that day.

The bill for the two of us was a little under 40 Euros, including drink and a tip. ou don't get value like this often!

Would I recommend it? A resounding YES with the one caveat that quiet and romantic it's not. Not sure whether it's open at lunchtime but I suspect not.
