November 2012 was when we visited this hotel. Food Plentyful and varied. Staff very polite. Room was smaller than hoped for. It was not possible to take bottled water into hotel which had been bought in local shops. Reason given was Health and Safety !

Room Tip: Situation is out of town. Really need a car or use hotel bus to Kyrenia.

We arrived around 2.30pm, the staff at the checkin desk haven't improved since our last visit. We were given our key and thats it (a smile would be nice!). Our room was on the third floor with a mountain view. The room was large and clean with decent furniture. The bathroom is not up to the standard of a five star hotel (yes we have stayed in a five star!) the grouting needs sorting around the bath etc and the shower glass needs a good clean. The towels were clean and white, as was the bedding. The only decent English channel on the tv froze and stayed that way until we left. The evening meal starts at 7pm in the winter. We had soup to start, that was only luke warm. Then we had some salad and bits, there was a very good selection and it was all fresh and tasty. The main meal again had a good selection but a lot of it was not very hot (but you couldn't say it was awful). There was a large selection of desserts but most tasted very bland and jellyish. Down to the breakfast, loads to choose from and well presented. We did find the staff in the restaurant all very nice and helpful. The reason we went back to this hotel was that we had a very good deal.

Room Tip: High floor away from the lift.

The Malpas Hotel is advertised as a 5 star hotel but is probably more 4 star.
The rooms are modern and well decorated ,clean and well appointed
The breakfast is good with large selection plus the live egg station the evening buffet's have a large selection of food but are similar ever night there is a live cooking station also.
The Hotel has a good fitness and wellness centre with free gym, turkish, sauna .steam room ,indoor pool and jacuzzi.A very pleasant outdoor pool with comfortable sun loungers.
The staff are pleasant ,helpful and obliging.
A free shuttle bus is available to the local beach and town.

just returned from a weeks stay at Malpas.Really enjoyed hotel and facilities.Stayed in annex, which room was tastefully decorated and comfortable. We arrived late at night, and were given large sandwiches and crisps..much appreciated after flight.Staff at hotel, very friendly, and obliging.Meal choice in resturant very good, and plentiful(cant undrstand previous comments about living on jam and bread, obviously very difficult to please(if dont like foreign food, why go abroad) as for comments of not being five star, maybe not to uk standards(people who made comments have probaly not stayed in a five star hotel any way)Would stay at Malpasa again

Room Tip: stay in annex..very quiet

I recently spent a much needed week at the Malpas on a late sun holiday.

The hotel itself is a very nice quality - not the 5 star you would associate with the equivalent in the UK but very nice none the less.

Our room was spacious with a terrace close to the pool. Clean and well looked after. Only downside and this is a stretch as we didn't spend much time there, was the lack of UK based TV channels which one would normally find in hotels of this standard - but as I say, that's being picky.

Outdoor pool a little chilly in mid November but certainly doable and the standard of furniture poolside was the best I have ever seen.

Indoor pool probably a little cooler than would be ideal - and certainly the spa pool was to cold to relax in. Turkish spa, Steam Room and Sauna were all very high class and enjoyable.

Food whilst plentiful, was not really very good. Huge buffet for both breakfast and dinner - and you can make a decent meal out of the salad/fruit sections - but the rest of it was at best 'ok'. I will say - the egg chef they have is a great addition!

Location - a little way from civilisation, and this will suit most! There is a nearby supermarket for things like bottled water, and twice daily free minibus run by the hotel into Kyrenia. Stunning mountains behind the hotel and lovely sea views on the front.

Would recommend going on the excursions offered - informative and entertaining and a great day out!

Would I go back there - Yes. Would I recommend it - Yes. Is it the best place I have stayed - No.

Room Tip: Sea views are popular - but Mountain views get the best sunlight on their terraces!

We arrived at the hotel in the late evening, to a freshly prepared meal, whilst our luggage and rooms were taken care of. We stayed in a fantastic room overlooking the sea, in a separate block from the main hotel, which made it extremely quiet. I swam in the outside pool each morning, whilst my wife used the in-door pool. Both were great with the exception that the outside pool towels were locked away and I spent time trying to find the keyholder!! The food was excellent, lots of local dishes and several different main courses to choose from every evening. The wine list was considerable with some very good local Cyprian wines and all were reasonably priced. A good trip, our eighth to Northern Cyprus, but our first time at the Malpas. We would stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms in the adjacent block to the main hotel were excellent if you want a nice quiet room.
