I've read a lot about the viking era so it was great to see real examples even though they are not complete, but what do you expect after so long under water? Good movie in English explaining when and how the ships were recovered and conserved.
The reconstructed vessels in the harbour were excellent. Craftsmen woodcarving, making baskets, rope etc and shipbuilding on site. The highlight was sailing in one of the ships.
The museum is nearly 2km from the station and served by an hourly bus service on both saturday and sunday, weekdays more frequently.
Highlight of our time in Denmark.
