I write as a long-term resident of Roskilde.
Me and my wife have used this restaurant on a number of occasions, and had settled into thinking of it as a place to choose on a fine summer evening (the restaurant is by the harbour and has high windows to look out of), if there's nowhere better. We've felt sometimes that the service wasn't that hot, and the meal was OK, but nothing to write a Trip Advisor review about.
But on the most recent occasion (we again had a friend staying) there had been a transformation: three really interesting fish starters, followed by three really interesting meat main courses and gourmet deserts. Alongside it, we sampled three wines that the restaurant recommended: again really good recommendations.
And the whole evening, which we thoroughly enjoyed inspite of the blackness outside, was inexpensive (by Danish standards).
The experience made this a natural choice when we have friends staying, and made us feel proud to live in the town. Thoroughly recommended.
