Owner description: Kronborg Castle towers above a very narrow promontory between the coasts of Denmark and Sweden. The renaissance castle stands majestically with its spires, towers, columns, sandstone and copper roofs. Kronborg Castle is a magnificent renaissance castle and a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. This year marks the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare. Kronborg Castle is marking this occasion by celebrating Shakespeare's immortal play Hamlet with a cocktail of theatrical adventure, drama and festivities in the magnificent halls of the castle.

“Worth visiting”

It only takes 45 minutes from Copenhagen central station to Helsingore where Kronborg Castle also known as Hamlet Castle is located and it's worth a day trip. Most of the information is in English, and you wil learn a lot how Danish lived during the medieval times. The Castle is clean, we'll lighted and easy to explore. There is also a maritime museum located in Helsingore and the town itself is nice to explore.

One hour outside of Copenhagen it a quaint little town with a great castle. Brings you back to your time reading Hamlet in school. The castle is right on the water. very picturesque.

“Good Day Trip from Copenhagen”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

A must for fans of Shakespeare, but also if you enjoy visiting castles. Wandering around in the dark underneath the castle was an experience that I haven't found elsewhere. The royal apartments were labeled well in Danish and English and provided a unique glimpse at life in and the history of the castle.

“Definitely worth seeing”
Reviewed June 16, 2014

The castle is so much Danish. What I mean is that it is practical and funtional, not too much adorned, quite austere, I would say. And thus lovely. In a room you could "experience" the fire that destroyed it in 1629 and it was an incredible sensation. I would like to visit it in August when it holds the Shakespeare festival.

“very picturesque”
Reviewed June 14, 2014

A great castle to visit with plenty of information given in English. We were here for quite a while and learned a lot about Danish history - as well as how life was lived in Denmark in medieval times. The chapel was beautiful and it's definitely somewhere to take your camera.
