“Very good Old fashion "Smørrebrød"”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2013

This is the place to go if you wish to have smørrebrød of all kinds. Fresh and well prepared and big portions. Lots of choices from the menu Card - also some plates with sevreral dishes. If you order from the menu you can only eat two, or max three pieces of "Smørrebrød".
The place has been there for ages. The waiters probably as well. They are kind and with a good portion of humour. It is a busy place and with a cosy and lively athmosphere. Good beers and akvavits as well.
In the summer time or on sunny days you can be served also at the channel side, meaning very close to the Water front.
Nice place to go for a lunch.

“Classic Copenhagen”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2013

Wonderful old restaurant near canal. Wood beams, lots of personal pictures abound in the varying small rooms. Friendly waiters and typical food and beer. We had the battered plaice..white fish.. Topped with a mound of small shrimp and black caviar. Beautifully presented. So glad to happen upon it. In nice weather there are tables across the way at the canal.

“Favourite smörrebröd place in Copenhagen”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2013

When visiting Copenhagen, we always come back for this place at least once. Friendly, relaxed waiters in good mood and the smörrebröd are just awesome. It's quite busy and there is not a lot of room in the place but I love the intimate coziness it generates. My two best recommendations from the menu is Pariser Böf and Flaeskesteg and the prices are really good value for money. You are always happy, very full and slightly tipsy when you leave this place. :)

“Great classic smorrebrod restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

We have visited a lot of the classic smorrebrod restaurants in Copenhagen through many years, but have always been to late to make a reservation at this old popular place. This time we made it, and we understand why it's so popular. We ordered the "Lille (small!) kanalanretning" , witch means that you more or less make the sandwiches yourself, or eat the bread at the side. We had 3 huge servings of food, 5 sorts of herring, fried Fish, pork, huge meatball ,and several sorts of cheese. We couln't possible eat it all! How anyone can be able to eat the "Stor (big) kanalanretning" is beyond me! It was all very tasty and well prepaired. Great value!
The waiters had a lot of humour and helped making a perfect atmosphere. We'll try to make the reservation early enough to get a table next time.

“Classic smorrebrod”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 2, 2013

If you like Danish sandwiches (smorrebrod) which are really more like a full meal this place is a good choice. It's popular so you should book a table. It consists of a number of rooms in a rather old building. It's a bit cramped but that makes it easy to get into contact with your neighbours. We were recommended the 'plate' which was a kind of smorgasbord on a big plate with a large number of dishes and extras, e.g. cured herring, fried fish, spare ribs, cucumber, chicken salad etc. It was delicious and the staff was friendly and fairly quick to serve us. We had beer to go and of course the classic 'lille' which means 'small one' in Danish, that is aquavit. They leave the bottle on the table which makes it easy to fill your glass. They use there eyes to measure how much you have taken. An agreeable experience.
