Had the 6 course tasting menu, with the last one being the cheese plate. Amazing service and even more amazing food. It's a small restaurant, so reservation is a must.

Our little family of three love eating well and decided to give Mads and Carstens restaurant a try. We had a tasting menu, which we matched with wines and finished off with a cheese plate.

In a word, EXCEPTIONAL!

Mads and Carstens run a lean ship, taking turns cooking and serving. Three days a week, they have help in the form of an apprentice. So, it is effectively like visiting friends, but with a professionalism that is not to be understated.

Mads is the more outgoing of the two but both are worth the price of admission because they make the food and explain it well, joyfully and with love. We loved the discourse on soccer - Mads is well Mad for FC Copenhagen, Man U, Real Madrid and AC Milan. Our family is less inclined to follow those teams.....

Each dish is thought through with a combination of flavours, portions, plating ......that spoke volumes.

The wine selections were top drawer. And again, thought through.

Whatever you do DO NOT MISS THE CHEESE PLATE!!! Mads reckons that they have the finest cheese plate in Copenhagen. From this patron's point of view, I would have to agree. The cheeses were all chosen with love and a real sense of texture and taste. They were laid out in progression matched with three wines for each flavour and type.

People criticize Copenhagen for being expensive. By my reckoning, this meal was one of the most reasonable I have had for the quality of food and wine ever. Our family of three adults ate and drank well for under C$125/head. Given that taxes are 25% and the gratuities are included, it was more than fair priced.

Our group of 4 went to Krebsegaarden in July during our Copenhagen stay after our Baltic cruise. It is owned and run by Mats and Cars (both Norwegian, I think). They do everything - waiting the tables, creating the food, and telling you precisely how everything is created. They were such nice guys, and spent time talking to us about the food, their restaurant, wines, etc. Most importantly - the Creole pork tenderloin was excellent, and so were the chocolates (petit fours) that I had to finish my meal. Their menu is created according to the art that's being exhibited in the gallery in the courtyard behind the restaurant. They have some of the art in the restaurant as well. In July, the artists are Cuban, thus the Creole pork. While pricey, it is worth every krone. It was an outstanding meal and experience. Note that reservations are important, since it's a small restaurant.

We were a party of 6. The moment you enter Krebsegaarden, you are warmly welcomed by the friendly Mads. There was a lovely casual and relaxed feel to this restaurant, but don't get me wrong! Everything else, from the menu, fine wines and decor, have been given thorough attention to detail, making this a true dining delight from beginning to end.

We all ordered fish starters and mains, which were meticulouslly prepared with obvious love by Carsten. He took time to explain the processes in making each dish. An added bonus was getting some great tips about food preparation along the way! If it's still on the menu, you can't go wrong with the bacalao! We all tried and loved it!

Mads is passionate about his wine and cheese. If you have enough space after your meal, you must try the cheese plate. It was the best I've ever had. Mads own original serving concept and the selection of cheeses is something not to miss.

Luckily, I shared the cheese board and the creme caramel with my friend. We were both very happy to try both!

Mads was happy to give us recommendations for great bars and clubs to enjoy after our meal. All of us agreed it was a very special dining experience.

You will not regret your decision to book a table at Krebsegaarden!

Very small and low key in the centre of Copenhagen. They exhibit a local gallery's art work on the walls and this also inspires the cuisine. When we dined there it was just coming to the end of a cuban theme with beautiful artwork and delicious cuban-style food (all produce is seasonal and locally sourced). The service was outstanding with both the waiter and chef chatting to all the guests and explaining the dishes in detail. The homemade bread with honey was superb as were the main courses and desserts. We ate in the evening with our small child but there were couples, local families and a larger party there as well and everybody was made to feel really welcome. I would definitely eat here again.
