Happened upon this place. Made us an excellent veggie sandwich and good value for Copenhagen which seems quite expensive for uk travellers. Beautiful decor with lots of interesting retro stuff to look at/ buy. Good place to hangout. Seemed popular with the locals too.

on the pricey side for a roll but very delicious. We choose to take away and eat in the park nearby.

Denmark's most charming cafe. Mormor's (Grandma's) is a quaint sweet shop run by a trio of equally sweet Danish sisters Gitte, Tina & Heidi and assisted by Gitte's lovely daughter Amy. This combo coffee/ bakery/curios shop is a real find! Situated on Bredgade in one of Copenhagen's most high-end areas dotted with art galleries, antique shops and auction houses. From the minute you peek in the windows of Mormor's you just want to love this place. They serve top quality coffees, teas, cakes, scones, desserts and homemade sandwiches. Has a fascinating interior with old Danish magazines from the 1950's/60's, old wooden tables, interesting art which lend itself to a Hanzel & Gretal feel. Mormor's also sells an assortment of items ranging from take away chocolates to trinkets, to Danish cups & saucers, various collectibles and even tee shirts. The service is among the most friendly in Denmark.
*A note for all you track & field enthusiasts: I found out that Gitte, an elegant sophisticate with society/movie star looks is also an avid long distance runner who competes around the globe in the marathon circuit--I'm talking the 25 plus time.
TIP: Head for the cozy couch and table in the rear of the cafe, it's somewhat of a hidden gem for relaxation and private talk. Once you perch yourself here with a cup of hot coffee or tea you might never want to leave this quaint place.

"Mormor's" - literally "Grandma's" - is a cosy 1950's-style Danish sandwich and coffee/cake shop located very near to Amalienborg and the Marble Church. They serve delicious sandwiches and very nice "Danish Danish"-pastry, cake and cookies. Sandwiches are reasonably priced at around 50-60 DKK (10 USD), while cookies are a bit expensive at arondd 25-30 DKK (6 USD). Smoothies are delicious as well, but also quite pricey.

The thing about Mormor's is the cool classic Danish interior decoration, which gives a very genuinely cosy atmosphere Danish-style.

Recommended for a quick sandwich stop.

We happened upon this combination sandwich shop/antique/gift shop near the Church of Our Saviour. Sandwiches were excellent and we enjoyed sitting among the antiques and bric-a-brac as we ate. Copenhagen food is quite expensive, so we liked having a lunch which totaled $22.00 for 2 people. Everything was fresh and the bread seemed homemade.
