Description: Conditori La Glace is the oldest and probably best confectionary in Denmark. Founded in the middle of old Copenhagen on the 8th of October 1870, it has through six generations delivered joy and quality to Copenhagen and its visitors. It is an experience to visit the beautiful old rooms located in Skoubogade 3. La Glace has a lot to offer, including good taste, traditions, history, as well as quick and qualified service. You can choose to enjoy the confections on location or bring the cakes home with you for coffee. Alternatively, we can deliver to your door. We hope that after seeing what we have to offer you will feel like visiting our confectionary, tasting our products, and making use of our many services. We are looking forward to welcoming you to La Glace.

This place is seriously good and evidently clear why it's been around for some 150 years. Like everything in Copenhagen it's not cheap, coffee and cake for two costing around £25, but this is standard for the city. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. The coffee was good and the cake, well the cake was outstanding. We had the signature Sports cake which was brilliant. Highly recommend this place for all visitors to the city - just wish there was a La Glace closer to home!

La Glace is a Copenhagen institution, unchanged in decades. Everyone comes here; young, old, tourists, students, ladies who lunch. At many tables you'll see multi-generational families sipping hot chocolate together, very Danishly. In some ways it resembles a doll's house with tiny, perchy chairs circled round wee marble tables, all crammed together so tight that you are almost sitting on your neighbor's lap. Ordering is a bit of a chore; join the scrum at the counter (sometimes numbering system is in force, more often not) to pick out your cake, select your beverage, and sit back down. The waitress will bring it to you, after circling a few other tables in confusion ("is this your cake?", "did you order the eclair?"). Elbows tight to your sides, now enjoy the best cakes in town -- tasty, moist and very rich. They even have a cake honouring Hans Christian Andersen, created to commemorate the fairytale writer and most famous Dane. Good coffee at a mind-bending 50 kr per small pot. Cramped, expensive, and beastly hot, there's nothing like Cafe La Glace.

I visited La Glace on Saturday morning in March. It was definitely not empty , but still possible to find a nice quiet table, and the queue was not long. Grab a leaflet to get help with the choice while waiting: you'll find the pictures and descriptions of all the cakes. There is also a recipe book for those who wants to know more. The hot chocolate is great! For those who has nothing against anis and searches for the new unusual flavours I would recommend to try H.C. Andersens cake. Fresh, slightly sour, very interesting.

If you've of the sweeter taste persuasion, La Glace is a Copenhagen must. Don't be put off by the queues out the front - they move quickly, and it's worth the wait!

The staff are friendly, the coffee is delicious, and the cakes....oh my goodness. Each one of us had a different cake, and each one of us was in raptures about their own.

There's no question that La Glace is expensive, but if it's a one-off, it's worth every crown! The cakes are largely made and decorated by hand, the service is fantastic, and it's a culinary slice of Danish Royal history. Lovely.
