Description: Cafe Europa 1989 has been active in the specialty coffee industry since 1989. “In 2003 Jens Nørgaard and Martin Hildebrandt from cafe Europa 1989 decided to start up CCA, the Copenhagen Coffee Academy. Through their search to know more about coffee, milk and other related products, the aim was to make a contribution to the specialty coffee culture. The objective was to conjoin gastronomy and the world of wine with the specialty coffee world.” You can read our coffee history in the “Cafe Europa 1989 Cookbook”, or you can read it here. “We want the cafe to be characterized by long-term consistency and we expect it to resemble itself from one year to the next. Cafe Europa 1989 should be a manifestation of both the tenor of the times and the timeless.”

First off, as everyone has said the food is expensive. You are paying to be in the center of everything and the real estate prices on those tables are high. Also Copenhagen is not a cheap city by any stretch of the imagination. You can easily drop over 500 DKK for lunch here for two people. That being said the food was quite nice, and the service was really good. It is a tourist area though we noticed that a number of tourists were directed to other places by the host/hostess if they didn't want to wait or seem to pay the prices. It doesn't seem to hurt business sending people away as there is a constant stream of people and always a lack of open tables on a saturday. We enjoyed a meal here, and did some people watching. Of course it was too cold to be outside so I'm not sure if they do outdoor seating in the summer as well. Food was good as said and the only thing to make it better would be lower prices which obviously they don't have to charge since they have more then enough people wanting to eat here. We also found the staff very professional and helpful, not at all inexperienced as someone has described.

Always great place when in Cph. Located in the middle of everything with the downside that it becomes a bit "touristy". Food is great, had one of the best Caesar salads ever. Service is correct. Prices are a bit too high but for the few times I'm in Copenhagen it's worth it.

Was here with my boyfriend because we wanted to see what the fuss was all about. Well, cafe interior is nice, location is nice too, but the staff is pretty unexperienced so it seems. They did guide us to a table right away, cleaned it up, but then we were waiting to place an order and it was almost impossible to get the attention, even though it wasn't that crowded (Sunday afternoon). The guy who was appointed to do the cleaning of the tables, did that in a way...well, he could have worn headphones, he was in his own world and apathically took empty glasses off a table of a lady who was waiting for her friend to come back from paying. It's not that the staff wasn't nice, but just not good, not commercial nor customerfriendly. If you're on a budget or a diet, you definitely should go here, you can sit with one drink for hours, as long as you don't empty your glass and enjoy watching the people outside on the square.

A little pricey due to the location but consistently good food - salads are interesting and tasty, ditto the lunch plates. Great homemade bread and americano coffee the way it should be made. Worth waiting for a table for lunch.

When you are tired of walking Ströget up n´ down, stop to Cafe Europa for a good lunch.

It was packed with people at 1 p.m. but service was quite quick. Plates were full of nice food. I ate a chicken salad with plenty of nice flavors (Grilled chicken & Grambogård bacon). In the near tables visitors were eating the Fish platter which looked also so good. Prices were average in city center.

Go, eat and enjoy in Cafe Europa!
