“No live jazz for us, but great atmosphere”
Review of La Fontaine

La Fontaine
Reviewed June 17, 2013

We went on a Friday to grab a drink and see some live Jazz. Unfortunately that day there was not live band, although there was still jazz music through the speakers. The place had a really nice atmosphere are drinks were very reasonably priced for Copenhagen. If you can go when there is some live jazz on this place would be a must visit.

No concert that time, but a very good sound and a nice place. Sound was a bit high so it wasn't the best place to have a discussion. ..

This is the place I went a lot of times during my Erasmus one year ago.
It is not really easy to find. If it is open look for a sign on the street with all the upcoming concerts and offers (righ now there are pints of draught beer for 33DKK, but only in specific days).
It is a small bar with a stage for bands to play jazz music, while drinking beers or sipping cocktails. During weekends there is always live jazz music. The entrance is free even with live music, however if you get there after 22 (when the sessions start), then you have to pay 70DKK (~10€ at the moment), so get there before for some awesome live jazz music!
On Sundays there are jamming sessions, in which people get there and play together without being in a band, so they keep on changing music/band composition.
The place has a small, ventilated, room for smokers and an even smaller bathroom, but these are really small details since you should go there for the music and the ambient.
Recommended to all jazz music lovers and to people looking for a place to listen to music and talk.

Small smoky jazz venue.
Music is great atmosphere is what you expect from a Jazz venue...
Very fun evening.

DOn't go there for the alcohol, food selection or fresh air...but if you want some great Jazz with NO POUNDS entrance charge you cannot beat Sunday Jam Session.

We visited on a Sunday night, got there about 8.15pm for a 9pm start which meant we got a seat. After 8.45pm was standing room only. Jam session with different acts showing up and jamming togethr, excellent performances, electric atmosphere. Bar prices good. There was no admission fee the night we went. When closed it is hard to find - above a shop, no info on the door but don't give up.
