“Great location, but some significant flaws”
Reviewed May 25, 2014

The hotel sits on the corner of Sankt Peders Straede and Vester Voldgade and is in a perfect location for exploring central Copenhagen, as it's just a few minutes' walk from most of the city's attractions, bars and restaurants. It is perfectly situated for travel to and from the airport by the 5A bus, with bus stops next to/across the road from the hotel. The Netto supermarket just across the road is very handy too.

SP34 is a very modern hotel and has an impressive bar/lobby area; there is also a free glass of wine every day for hotel guests between 5.00 and 6.00pm. The staff are efficient, friendly and helpful which ensured a smooth check-in and check-out process.

However, the décor in our room failed to impress. You could call it Danish minimalism but for me it was just plain drab. Grey curtains, grey walls, and the poorest lighting I've ever come across in a hotel. It's just a good job that there's lots of daylight at the moment - imagine coming here in the winter months, you'd need to bring your own lamp! Hotel designers need to bear in mind that many female guests appreciate decent lighting to do their hair and make-up, and somewhere to sit in close proximity to an electric socket where we can plug our hair straighteners in! I know this may seem a shallow point to some, but these factors make or break the hotel experience. On the plus side, there is a free safe in the room and a large-screen HD television with a good variety of Nordic and international channels. The beds are also very good, with memory foam mattresses/mattress toppers.

The biggest problem with SP34 is that there is no air conditioning, which during the recent hot spell required the windows to be open at all times; and this also meant that you could not escape the construction noise. For this reason I have to mark the hotel down and would conclude that it is overpriced in its present form. At the moment it's a bit too much style over substance. Air conditioning, better lighting, more electric sockets and more wardrobe space would all improve the hotel and make it a real force to be reckoned with. Hopefully the management of the hotel will give some consideration to adding these features.

It's very clear that Hotel SP34 has grand ideas and aspirations. However it's still early days and It's just a pity that they didn't wait until all the renovation work in and around the hotel was completed before they officially opened the doors to their paying guests.

Nice little hotel but it could certainly improve. It is loud and not just from the non stop construction outside. Loud guests, loud sound checks in the reception, really annoying. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. Lifts are very, very slow. We had an annoying incident when my colleague arrived late at night with a confirmed booking but there was no room. Not a great service I'm sorry to say. The free wifi was too notch.

First the pros:
Location is perfect, close enough to everything ,but not in the middle of busy street.
Plenty of nice restaurants nearby, a supermarket thats open till 2400 is nearby
The team is very pleasant and helpful
There is a huge TV with IPTV and plenty of channels

The cons:
Major one for me - the gym is not complete, but they list it as working, and didnt even bother to apologize or offer an alternative
The breakfast ,while fancily dressed-up,is rather minimal, and , they tried to charge $10 extra for fried eggs which is sort of atrocious
There is NO AC in the rooms. So if it gets hot in the night you have to keep the window open
There is no physical lock on the door other than the magnetic card , so staff can walk in,and do.
There are nowhere near enough power outlets

Overall i was kind of disappointed with what i got for the price

Room Tip: Ask for higher floor

Hotel opened in April 2014, so only 1 month old. Location is perfect, close to the center, parks, Torvhallen, Tivoli etc.

First impression was very good. Lobby interior of high quality Danish design. Very modern.

Room was the big disappointing point. Dark corridors with no fresh small. Also no fresh air at room 105. And maybe the smallest I have had. Shower room where everything just gets wet, even the carpet in the room. Nice details but some short cut solutions that pulls down. Seriously!

On the upside again was the breakfast. Included in the rate. Great selection of juices, fruit, bread.

Cocks and Cows downstairs also serve some fantastic burgers!

Attention to details needed if they want to become 5 star boutique but potential is there.

I stayed in this hotel with my husband and 6month old daughter. The decor is fantastic-typical Scandinavian style, and our room was lovely....large and bright with big windows. Plenty of room for the cot for the baby. Breakfast is perfect, and there are plenty of places in the hotel to relax-lovely lobby, great restaurant (who were very accommodating in making some finger foods for our daughter). 'Wine hour' is an added bonus. The location is good. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a base for exploring this wonderful city.

I am not the kind of person to complain. But here, I am very upset about this hotel.

- Room very small impossible to turn around the bed without to hurt either the table or a chair.
- Not knob at the bathroom door
- Reception and bar is the same desk. So the receptionist prefer to serve the bar's customers. And not apologizes for this.

It should be very rare but sunday morning fire alarm start at 9:40.
Every customers out of the hotel.
Do you think the employees informed us we could enter back ?
NO and of course not explainations or apologizes again.

About the breakfast! The most expensive I have had. And of you need Eggs & bacon extra you are extra charges.

So, I do not recommand this hotel at all.

As someone who travels every week, its not often that I am impressed by a hotel. Its not that the other stays are bad, but my weekend at SP34 was just so perfect, I felt I had to share.

The property is brand new. The interior is sleek, modern and design-forward. The rooms are bright and comfortable. The shower is spacious, water pressure is fantastic and offer a rain shower head (which I love). And while this was all very nice, it is all stuff that I expect from a boutique design hotel.

The best part of this hotel, however, was the service. The staff is amazing. They went above and beyond on several occasions to help me with my off the wall requests and did them all with a smile and a laugh....every request was met with a positive and enthusiastic response. You can just tell that everyone there genuinely cares about making your stay better. And not only is everyone is smiling and upbeat, but I'm also pretty sure they're all supermodels.

Its also in a great location in Copenhagen - walking distance to Central Station and Tivoli - close to the running paths around the reservoirs.

My only negative comment is that it can get a bit loud at night - so if you're someone who likes to sleep with the window open, bring ear plugs.

Highly recommend this place if you find yourself in Copenhagen for a few night.
