I was hoping for better but this hotel just didn't quite deliver given the 4 star rating here. We stayed here 2 nights. Tried to check in early after an overnight flight from NYC, but no rooms were available. They have a self-serve luggage storage area in the basement that is supposedly monitored by camera and requires the staff to buzz open the door once you are down there. The staff were really nice and pleasant. They even gave us a free glass a wine in the lounge/bar/library one evening - even if the wine wasn't good, it was still appreciated. The location is terrific - just a 10 min walk at most from central station and walkable to most of the city attractions. On to the bad - we got a top floor room on HC Anderson Blvd. Being from NYC, this wasn't an issue for us. Typical european size room, so no surprise there (we managed with 2 suitcases and 2 backpacks) - but it was a bit outdated and worn as other reviewers are now mentioning. It was clean enough, but not super clean - some mold and rust in the bathroom. No A/C in the room, which seems typical in the Scandinavian countries. The windows provided enough air to keep the room comfortable when we were there, but if it were any warmer I could see that being a problem. They do offer a fan you can use in the room. The room key is rather large and they offer to hold the key for you while you're out and about. Seemed like a great idea until we witnessed what appeared to be a random person walk into the hotel lobby and ask for a key to a room. The first room number this person gave didn't exist but scored on the 2nd chance. Who knows, maybe he really did forget the room number he was staying in, but the receptionist didn't validate this individual at all and just handed over the room key. We decided to hang on to the key from that point on.
Overall, its an average hotel at best for the standard room. We didn't see the upgraded deluxe room, so can't compare, but standard it certainly was. Can't comment on any of the food offerings as we didn't eat there - too many other great options to try in the city. Probably would look to find something else the next time I'm in Copenhagen.
