“Amazing Amass”
Reviewed August 21, 2014 via mobile

What a sublime restaurant! This was probably one of the best meals, I have ever had! Nordic food with original and talented use of herbs and even flowers grown in the restaurant's own garden! Had the 5 course menu and enjoyed every single serving all spiced up with relaxed but brilliant service! We will for sure be back!

“Nice "Copenhagen"ish experience”
Reviewed August 20, 2014

When I tell about Copenhagen to people who have never been there, I always try to describe the art-scene, the cool relaxed urban style, the fashion and the food. Amass for me embraces Copenhagen, and everything there is cool about Copenhagen.

The big nice airy Hall with the graffiti, the casual but cool waiters, the way they bake (maybe the best bread we have had) outside.

The food was delicious and very tasty, and the price very good. The location can be a bit off, because its a bit far off. But besides we loved it.

“The joke's on us”
Reviewed August 19, 2014

"Amazing" experience indeed. Anyone wanting to write a devastating parody of trendy "fine" dining need only visit this restaurant and record the experience. The lack of professionalism, hospitality, and graciousness among the staff is staggering. Apparently, the point of Amass is to convince its customers that it has a hip "concept" (how many times is the staff required to repeat that word to a customer?), yet what is produced is an almost comic spectacle of incompetence.

Instead of being welcomed upon arrival, my party was issued the restaurant "rules" by a patronizing host (or semi-server--his role remained vague throughout the evening). He would "make" us share food, and we would "learn" to get our hands dirty. The dishes arrived in a bizarre pattern, and finally stopped altogether for nearly 30 minutes. The kitchen was clearly in trouble, but no explanation or apology was forthcoming.

While we waited--and waited--the sun began to beat directly into the faces of diners facing west. A curtain was eventually pulled to remedy the situation at one table, but when we asked if something could be done about our table. No, he said, but added that an artist was creating some "expensive" curtains for that particular window. The sun continued to beat down on the table as he trotted away.

When one member of the party left the table to go to the restroom, the same "host" approached her to say that a course was on the way to our table (after we'd waited over 30 minutes!) and that she should return.

As "cutting-edge" or innovative as the staff seems to think the food is, it isn't. Some of it was tasty, but none of us could say that any of it was particularly memorable. It's a shame, really.

The kitchen was clearly in trouble that night, and the host and wait staff responded by staying clear of the customers. When the host told us that we needed to stay after dessert for some petits fours, our faces fell, and we asked for the check. "We'll do the financial stuff, but you stay here for the last food. Deal?" he said. The "petits fours" turned out to be a basket of yeast rolls.

The bill for this unorganized, rudely presented "concept" of a meal was astronomical--the mockery of customers (like us) who have allowed ourselves to be bamboozled by the cliches of culinary fetishism.

“New Era of gastronomy”

Amazing Restaurant, Exellent service and incredible food. The chef stands his cuisine with such a humble attitude and yet strong and definitive. It was an experience more than just a dinner.

“Best meal of my life, unparalleled experience”
Reviewed August 7, 2014

This is the place to go if you want to understand the new Nordic cuisine at its best. I lived in Copenhagen for much of 2013 and this was the superior dining experience in every sense imaginable, both in Denmark and throughout European travels. I doubt I will ever have another meal to rival it. The memories of that exquisite meal - every aspect of it - are deeply sustaining. Thank you, Amass!
