“Wonderful little place”
Reviewed February 4, 2014

We stumbled onto this place during a (very cold) walk in the streets of Copenhagen, and initially we only planned to have some coffee to warm ourselves up, but we were so charmed by the place that we decided to stay for lunch. This place has a total of 3 tables (all occupied), so we sat at the bar.

The place doesn’t have an English menu, so the very friendly owner took a few minutes to translate the whole thing for us. Among all the options of simple but typical Danish “pub” food, we chose the Mini Plate and the Smørrebrød plate for a little bit of everything (herring, shrimp, meatballs, chicken salad, red cabbage, rye bread, and many more things). With delicious Danish beer, of course.

This was by no means “haute gastronomie”, but the selection of foods that were offered were very tasty and fresh, and we really enjoyed them and our whole experience at this place! A little glass of Aquavit to finish the meal and we were ready to face the cold winter fog of Copenhagen for the rest of our walk.

“Proper old style Denmark”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

Called into this bar for food but unfortunately missed the 2.30 lunch cut off. Stayed and had beer and schnapps for 2 hours. Great atmosphere with bar staff and other guests. Really old fashioned little bar which makes you feel you are back 200 years in time but still really lively atmosphere. Real mix of customers from 20 somethings playing cards/board games to old viking men telling stories at the bar.
Proper!!

“We loved this restaurant!”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

This restaurant is tucked away on a small not far from the Rosenborg Castle. It is small with only a few tables, so, if you want a table, a reservation is recommended. We did not have a reservation for lunch but were able to get two seats at the bar. That turned to be an advantage because we thoroughly enjoyed talking to the friendly bartender/waitress (she spoke excellent English). We each had the smorebrod, and it was delicious! We also enjoyed our first akvavit. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, like a friendly pub. This was our favorite meal in Copenhagen.

“Best lunch in Copenhagen”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

This is traditional Danish smorgasbord at its best. Just opposite the Synagogue, but this is not a kosher place. Neither a fancy or expensive place, but a traditional family-run "værtshus" with a lot of atmosphere, for just ordinary people, like you and me. And at very attractive prices too!
