“Very nice hotel that would benefit from better bathrooms”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2010

My husband and I stayed at the Skt Petri while I was in town on business. The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance of almost all the attractions tourists want to see, as well as good shopping and restaurants. Our room was large, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was also large, with 2 sinks. The free wi-fi was a treat after the high charges that many upscale hotels charge for internet. From our room we were able to see the fireworks from the Tivoli Gardens, which we enjoyed. The hotel is across the street from the university and in the same block with a bar that is apparently very popular with the students. Thus it has the potential to be very noisy. We were disturbed by the noise only one night out of the 3 that we stayed, however; the last night we were there (a Tuesday) seemed to be a party night, with groups yelling in the street sporadically from 11pm-1am. The breakfast (included in our room rate) was excellent and varied; the coffee was especially good. The main downside of the hotel was the bathroom drains! Our tub was very narrow, with no curtain or shower stall. Since both of us prefer showers to tub baths, inevitably water sprayed out on the floor. The bathroom floor was tile, and a drain was provided, so this was no real problem, except that the drain smelled very bad. We smelled drains from other rooms as we walked down the hall, so apparently this was not unique to our room. There were a couple of silverfish in the bathroom, as noted by other reviewers, but the rooms were by no means overrun with bugs. This is a strange problem for such an upscale hotel, but the foul smelling drains detracted from the experience.

After doing a lot of research on where to stay for a vacation to Copenhagen, we settled on this property. We were glad we did so after our stay. The hotel itself is very nice, and it's location is absolutely excellent. As we saw the locations of some of the other properties we'd looked at -- many of which were in a far less charming, noisy part of town near the train station -- we were especially grateful for this hotel's location. It is near the old university, on a small street that's near several small shops, lots of restaurants, etc., but close enough to major transportation that it's still convenient.

The service at the hotel was superb. Our room was ready early, which was great, and anytime we had a question about Copenhagen or needed something from the hotel, everyone was very cheerful and informative. We rented bikes from the hotel for a day (highly recommended!, the best way to see Copenhagen), and the bikes were in pretty good condition and were very inexpensive to rent. The package we booked also came with a gift certificate to a nearby design center, which was appreciated!

The hotel offers complimentary access to the fitness center in the lobby. This is a membership gym for Copenhagen residents, and it was a very nice place with all of the equipment you'd expect in any gym. It had good design, a nice staff, and even had a DJ one night!

The hotel offered breakfast with our room rate, and it was a very impressive spread served in the main restaurant just off the lobby. It was an excellent deal; the breakfast included breads, meats, cheese, hot items (eggs, bacon, etc.), lots of fruit, cereal, yogurt, etc. -- having such a wonderful breakfast meant that lunch could be a lighter meal. The food was fresh, and the service at breakfast was excellent. What a nice addition to our stay -- a real value.

The room was comfortable. I've certaily stayed in places with posher rooms, but this one met our needs, particularly since we spent most of our time out of the room exploring the wonderful city. The bed was very comfortable -- soft mattress and fresh linens. There was ample closet space and lots of hangers. The room came with free internet -- definitely appreciated. Design was pleasant and tilted toward modern (including hardwood floors). The only downside to the room was the bathroom -- by no means was it disgusting (in fact, it was kept quite clean), but it was a bit odd, as there was a bathtub with shower feature, but no shower curtain. (Looking at the diagram of the hotel, I think some rooms have a shower stall; if you're sensitive about this, it might be worth asking.) We had to ask for some extra towels as a result! Overall, though, we were very satisfied, and I especially appreciated that the hotel met our request for a room on a high floor.

Overall, we were really happy with this property; it had a great mix for a vacation hotel -- superb location in a charming neighborhood with great access to the city; comfortable rooms; excellent service; great added features. Highly recommended!

I stayed at Skt Petri for two nights and I absolutely loved my stay! The service was beyond any expectations, the staff is exceptionally professional and attentive and will do anything to satisfy any guests' needs. The location is perfect, only a couple of minutes walk from the subway station and Stroget which was perfect because since it was a girls weekend, we were really close to all the stores! The rooms are spacious and the bathroom is huge!! The downside was that the water was not hot enough to take a bath though. And the mattress...SO comfortable, I didn't want to leave!

The restaurant was amazing and there is a good wine selection. Also, the hotel does not have a gym, but you can go to the gym next door which is free of charge for guests of the hotel. The gym is brand new with state of the art equipment. Finally, we didn't use the café downstairs but it looked really nice. I would definetely recommend this hotel and I will most certainly return! Thank you so much to all the staff!

This is my second review of this hotel here. I concider my self a frequent stayer at Skt. Petri. Between 3-6times a year, approxs 8-16nights, over the last 3,5 years. Mainly along bussiness, but usually a couple of leisure stays as well.

All in all, I love it. The atmosphere there makes it all extra ordinary. Staff's got an superb, but easyness to their service. The restaurant is surpricingly good, breakfast used to be out of this world, but is still well above main street. Having drinks, again with gentle, but cool service give a sense of quality and everyday luxury. Still a popular and busy place, not just for guests at the hotel.

Due to how much I enjoy staying here, the prices and the awards and level they are situated at, I now await a needed upgrade/refit. Hopefully without loosing this genuine atmosphere. It's also noted by me that "house cleaning" could keep a higher standard.

Never the less, I warmly recomend it, and wish for Skt. Petri to keep it's possition for many years to come. Thumbs up!

Ps! I successfully got engaged here as well, this spring!

Fantastic position. Pleasant staff. Dirty and tired rooms. Booked a superior room, were shown to a standard room which was very shabby, mistake realised, our room was changed. Superior room was lovely but the sealant in the shower was mouldy and there was a dirty cottonbud on the bathroom window sill which was not cleaned during our stay. Needs a makeover and change of chambermaid. Not good enough for the price and star rating.

I stayed at this hotel for about 2 months in 2007 whilst on a project. I liked the unique modern boutique feel to it so chose it for a weekend stay with my girlfriend in Sept 10.

To start with the good; as far as location it couldn't be any better. It's right in the centre of town, next to one of the main train stations, and 10 mins walk from the main shopping district, Nyhaven and Tivoli. As I remembered it, the rooms were fresh, large and comfortable. All reasons why I chose it again. Bar Rouge is also fantastic and the staff are great at being attentive without invading your personal space.

Where it really let itself down, which you'd probably notice more on a leisure break rather than a business trip (where you essentially just use it as a place to sleep), is service. I believe this was an exception in our case rather than the norm but a few instances of it can leave a bit of a bad taste. When we arrived we were given a twin room. Not a problem in itself but when I asked to be moved to a double, the woman said she'd find out and call me back immediately. Nothing after 20 mins, so I called reception again and the man on the phone was able to make the change there and then. When we got to the room, we had a double bed but two single duvets (?). I called reception again and got through to the woman who told me they had no spare double duvets; when I asked if she could rectify this in the next couple of days she grudgingly agreed but did nothing about it. On the first morning we slept in and had to turn away the person who came to do the room up. We then left for the day and when we came back in the evening, it still wasn't done. Room service was slow and the breakfast situation on Sunday was a bit of a frenzy. The gym was great but lack of water fountains was a bit of an issue (I notice another reviewer mentioned this with a manager response saying it would be fixed...a month on and it's still the same problem).

None of this was a major problem and I'd still recommend it but a bit more attention to service and it could be great.

We had our honeymoon at Skt Petri Hotel and we loved every moment. Check in was perfect with super friendly staff that did there outmost to have the room ready early. Our suite was fantastic with a huge terrace facing the old Copenhagen. Restaurant was great both in regards too quality, price and service. Room service also worked out great with speedy delivery. The gym is out of this world and one of the coolest in Copenhagen! We will be back in end September and this hotel will be our 2 home when in Copenhagen. There are no other hotels in Copenhagen that can pride themselves as being the coolest hotel in all aspects. We have tried many others but not even close...
