“Excellent location, sub-par cleaning services”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2013 via mobile

I guess Copenhagen is relatively expensive, so I think overall this hotels provides average value.
Pros:
Best location. Everything is walking distance.
Rooms are spacious and bathrooms too.
Cons:
Poor design. Being in Copenhagen I'd have expected a better designed hotel. This one feels designed very on the cheap side.
Room cleaning services were very superficial. If you walked barefoot on the floor you'd feel sand under your feet. Obviously not vacuumed or cleaned properly. The mattress cover also had some sand/dust I'm not able to explain. Luckily it was under another thin layer of foam...
I asked for an orthopedic pillow and they didn't have any. I found it strange try would suggest for me to go buy it at a mall nearby.

The first thing one needs to know is that Copenhagen Hotels are expensive and based on the two I have seen...rather spartan.
The Skt Petri is is a good location (Latin Quarter) and is pretty easy walks of a couple of kms to most everything in the downtown. The rooms are small, simple and based on the second floor (where we stayed in a suite) are not great value for cost.
Copenhagen is a great city for walking and this is in a good location for all walking endevours.

Room Tip: The rooms on the top floors (not basic rooms) offer a nice rooftop view of the city.

When I am in Copenhagen this hotel is my first choice. The location is great (everything in walking distance), rooms are basic design, but comfortable. I especially like the rooms with a balcony/ roof terrace. I have also used the meeting room on the 6th floor, which is brilliant if you have a group of around 10 people.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony/ roof terrace.

My wife frequently travels to Denmark on business and stays in various hotels, so when I came out to join her for the weekend, she chose a Copenhagen hotel that she has liked in the past. Therefore prior to my stay here, this would have been one that she recommended to anyone that asked.
However, there were a number of things that let the hotel down. First, the room was not ready when we arrived well gone 3pm. We were told not to worry and we would get a nice room with a view. We decided we would leave our bags and come back later. When we were back at 6, the room we got was small, overlooked the rear roof and had the amazing talent of being looked directly into from the balconies alongside (where other guests were sitting outside having a drink.) When I asked if there was not a better room (this room cost 2245DKK for the night - so not cheap!) I was told there were none.
More worryingly, when we first arrived and could not get into the room, I went to the mens' toilets. One urinal was blocked and 'full.' Not nice. When I popped in again the evening on the next day, the same urinal was still blocked and 'full.' Surely any well run hotel would have this sorted as a priority?
The room itself was clean and neat and the breakfast was fine, location great. But not exactly worth the money.

Biggest draw in being interested in this hotel was a group of colorful "egg chairs" by Arne Jacobsen scattered around the lobby area, which are displayed in hotel's PR materials including its website and brochures at the hotel.
However, upon arrival, they were non-existent and replaced by a bench with several stools. A friend who studied interior design told me about this hotel few years back as coveted place to stay, but the atmosphere seems somewhat different now, and a bench must have been introduced to accomodate to more group guests who outnumber the individual guests staying at the place.
The room itself was pretty toned down and seemed to avoid putting anything which emit garbage (no tissues, cards/envelopes, toothbrushes, hot water tea/coffee making equipment). With the steep cost of minibar/snack in the room even considering it is in Scandinavian country, it was comforting to find Netto grocery below this building (to be entered from the Northeast side of the street beside the hotel), in addition to other places around Norreport station.
Breakfast buffet lacked salad section (unsure if this is standard for Copenhagen?).
It was difficult to see staff who seemed to be in their 50s or 40s, so, the service was friendly regarding inquiries for event ticket reservation and shop location search, etc. Probably because tipping custom is not strong in town, people who deal with luggages were hard to find (this goes to taxi drivers waiting outside the hotel, too).
That said, this hotel is located conveniently within walking area of central Copenhagen, so one may encounter plentiful excitements in contrast to the simplicity of the hotel.

Room Tip: For lower floors, rooms in the middle of the floor only have limited window opening space (if any...

I would like to thank the manager and specially Maja, for their attention at the hotel: we had a problem with our booked, and any hotel gave us a solution, and they very kindly gave us the perfect solution quickly. I am very pleased!

When I come back to Copenhague, I am sure I will go there.

Thanks again!
