“Could have been a nice hotel if not for annoying details”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2012

The Square hotel location could not be better - right on Raadhuspladsen, 2 min walk from Stroget, 5 min from Tivoli and the Central Station. It does not look fancy on the outside (best example of 1960-70's architecture), but has quite a nice lobby design. There it stops. Rooms are pretty small and uninspiring. There's no Wi-Fi in the rooms, you have to use a cable. The wash sink drain in my room appeared to be blocked on arrival, so I had to use a bath tap to wash and brush my teeth. There are construction works on Raadhuspladsen and on Jernbanegade, so no peace after 6.30am. Breakfast selection is very limited and the restaurant is crowded

Room Tip: Avoid until construction works around are finished

This hotel is slap bang in the middle of town and close to a lot of shops, bars and restaurants - Truly multinational choice around - Scottish and Irish pubs, Indian, Spanish, Indonesian and Australian restaurants all in the same street - and if you are truly desperate for the best in American "haute cuisine" (sic) there is a MacDonalds nearby! Rooms are small(ish) but well equipped. Breakfast is the usual buffet and plentiful - but the breakfast room only opens at 7am (not early enough when you are working outside Copenhagen and commuting to the client). Two things reduce a 4 to a 3 score : it's on a very busy corner where traffic is incessant for most of the night, and the internet is the crappest I have come across in a while - Connection to ftp doesn't work (the point to point protocol setup is wrong) and some web connections are slooooooow. Time the management spent a limited number of DKKs to get this fixed! Not very preposessing entrance - but staff are proactive keen to help. Slightly above average, but doesn't deserve a "very good" score. Pity.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back away from the traffic

I recently stayed for 4 nights at this excellent hotel during a visit to spend time with Danish friends. The spotlessly clean 6th floor room was lovely with a small terrace overlooking Radhuspladsen. The breakfast room was just along the corridor and served a great buffet with plenty of choice - I can recommend the cheeses and meats and of course the yummy Danish pastries!

The hotel is well situated in the city centre within easy walks to most of the well known sights. Stroget, the longest pedestrianised shopping street in Europe, is just a stone's throw away. Initially I was rather concerned that the town hall clock on the square, striking every 15 minutes would be somewhat of a problem at night but thankfully it is turned off at midnight and doesn't start up again until 8.00am!

All in all this was a very enjoyable stay which I wouldn't hesitate to repeat

Room Tip: superior singles on the 6th floor have a small terrace overlooking Radhupladsen

Definitely a nice hotel. Good prices. Clean, modern, new. But noisy. I stayed at the back of the hotel and there is a nightclub nearby with booming bass that goes on until the early hours of the morning. We stayed Wednesday and Thursday night and to be fair it was just Thursday night. My colleague was at the front of the hotel and couldn't hear the music but could hear the street noise from the bars nearby and the fairly large "main" road. We were on the 5th floor so not even that close to street level.

Bring ear plugs and you'll be just fine.

Room Tip: Higher better, back not front.

location on the city hall square, about 5 minutes walk from the train station. In the area there are many shops, cafees and restaurants (so instead of having breakfast in the hotel you can go for an excellent brunch).
Room was small, bed was very comfortable (but sofa was not), there was minibar, ipod docking station and wifi. We booked room for four, but there were just 2 coffee mugs. Bathroom clean, with bath and small cosmetics. One day room was not cleaned (cleaning lady has just picked up used towels from the floor to hang them back).

Stayed at The Square during August 2012, adding a few personal days of sightseeing in Copenhagen to a business trip in the area. This is definitely a tourist-class hotel, but given that, it's very clean, modern and not too big.

My room was absolutely excellent. I had reserved a single superior room, and was given a double. The decor was very nice, the room was clean, and the bathroom was particularly nice. My room had a view of the Radhusplatsen, which despite the massive construction, was beautiful to look out over. Everything was functional in the room, including the wi-fi which was great.

Coincidentally, I was staying during the Copenhagen Pride festivities, which meant that the square was very loud at night. I had to close the window to sleep, but it certainly made for a fun time out and about! Location was very good - walking distance to practically everywhere, including the train station.

I might try another hotel for a future visit, just for variety, but definitely don't have complaints about this place.

Stayed here for 3 nights in September and were really happy with it. We had a family room as we were travelling with our two small children. The room was fairly spacious and had a queen size bed (or was it king) plus a fold out couch which was already made up. When couch was folded back in during the day the room felt quite big. Bed was very comfortable and bathroom was clean and new. Room wasn't facing the "square" but one of the side streets but the view was still good (no rubbish bins or alleys next to the window). Breakfast was excellent, huge selection. I also thought the staff were quite friendly and professional. I don't think I can fault the hotel at all. The location couldn't be better, very close to Tivoli, Stroget, cafes and restaurants but not too noisy at all. We had a lovely time.
