“Disappointing, very limited menu and continuous building work.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2011

Plus points, staff are friendly and helpful, rooms are adequate size and internet connection is good. However, location is some way from the city and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot nearby this hotel. There is building work ongoing all the time, like staying at a construction site not a hotel. Consequently quite dusty a colleague was disturbed early on a weekend morning by drilling going on.

Restaurant has a very, very limited menu OK if you stay one night but if you're staying several or are vegetarian then it's far to limited.

Spent just 1 night at this hotel for its proximity to airport. Well its not so close as well.
This hotel is currently under re-construction and hence had quite a few issues like cleanliness etc
Still, there was a constant and quite loud whistling noise coming from the toilet, maybe fittings were not done properly.
Hopefully by 1st September when it's over I expect it can come up to Scandic standards.

Great staff and good restaurant. Very quiet and clean rooms, with basic but comfortable furniture and decor. Only real disappointment is the shower which shares the same floor of the bathroom, such that it gets all pretty wet after a shower, and location (though relatively close to city trains). Mattress on the soft side, but still comfortable. No minibar, but refreshments available for purchase in the lobby 24h/day. I've been here on business 3-4 times already for 2-3 nights at a time and have always been comfortable and well received, but wouldn't come here for a romantic or pleasure stay as too minimalist for my taste and the bathroom is just always wet.

Room Tip: Avoid side of construction work!

Stayed for three nights in May 2011. Very overpriced for the facilities. Lots of building work going on around the hotel, they ate extending.
Hygiene not great, stains in the bathroom. Shower gel empty. Only one towel in the room. Noisy A/C fan.

I stayed here for 2 nights as other business colleagues were staying. The hotel is as previously mentioned a long way (e.g. expensive cab ride) from the city centre. If you are in Copenhagen you will want to visit the centre because it is very pleasant.

The hotel is under expansion/renovation. As a result the bar is tucked away in a corner past the restaurant. Although they have made an effort to liven it up, it is small and I am sure a new bar area will be coming at some stage.

Breakfast is decent. There is no room service fridge, but you can buy snacks at fairly sensible prices in the lobby area. For alcohol you will have to go to the bar.

The rooms are OK with hardwood floors which seem to be a Scandic trademark. Personally I don't like them in hotels as they mark up quite quickly. There is an iron/board in the room which is welcome. VIews are not great, I was facing an office building.

There is free Wifi available in the room which was good, and there is a business centre to print boarding passes etc.

Overall an decent stay but I would have wanted to be closer to the centre.

Hotel Scandic Sydhavnen.

THE HOTEL
This hotel is overpriced and Very Expensive compared to the quality you get from it.
It is located in a construction site in an industrial area in the middle of an intersection.
Far away from the center of Copenhagen or for that sake ANY facilities or interesting areas.
You are forced to use a Cab for everything.
It has 'Out of date' Dirty and Worn carpets from the 80's or 90's
All interior looks like it's office furniture from the 90's, ugly, worn, and wooden. You get the feeling of a dentists waiting room.
I can not emphasise enough the terrible feeling you get out of the lack of atmosphere and Ambience. The hotel has a Depressing atmosphere!
The Minibar in the rooms contains two empty glasses. What they expect the guests to do with them, I don't know.
You could not order any food after 22:00. Well some people need something else than a loaf of white soaked bread after a flight.
All the internet pictures of the hotel lie, and can't be considered to depict the true state of the hotel and surroundings
During the stay - The Hall outside the rooms filled with thick white smoke. No Employees had reacted, and we were woken by a guest who were knocking on the doors to get everybody out.
The smoke alarms or fire alarms did not trigger, and the hotel gave us no information regarding this event. Someone said this was due to concrete dust sucked in the ventilation plant, and spread out to the hotel rooms.
How nice. Let us have a shower of asbestos and give us cancer the next time!

THE BREAKFAST
Chairs were dirty and old, an uninviting.
The bread was OK.
old and dry and very little appealing fruit.
The Coffee was terrible, horrible and came out of an dead old outdated coffee vending machine which had it's last service and cleaning the last century.

THE ROOMS
The floor in the rooms were dirty! Shags and sand.
I had an old dirty unhealthy rug under an unmovable chair stuck up to one of the beds

THE BAR
Dirty old worn 80's carpets. Staff was OK.

Stayed here for a week on company business - we booked it because it was close to the office. But gosh it's quite far from the centre. Every evening I rented a bike from hotel and went to see the sights (this is the skandinavian way) and it was a VERY good exercise. Staff was friendly and helpful, although nobody was able to help me with the bike, tyres bit flat, chain bit rusty - be careful with what you get.
Food was good in the hotel, obviously very good continental breakfast, no idea about evening meals, since we went out every night.
Rooms are clean and spacious - maybe it's just me, but skandic hotels seem to have bigger rooms than normal. the rooms in the front look at a busy road, those on the back look over the railways - light sleepers, beware!
