After completing a recent NCL cruise of the Baltics, we spent 3 days in the Copenhagen area. We visited this church, which was a 10 min walk from our hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. The unique climb to the top of the steeple, on the OUTSIDE of the church, not on the inside of the steeple, offered a challenge that proved well worth it. The views of Copenhagen while standing on the outside of the steeple made a unique memory of our trip.

Some may think that a fear of heights is an issue for a site like this, but the wide steps encircling the steeple with the higher rail, made the climb less threatening that one would expect.

Well worth the 30-45 minute visit.

This is my favourite building . You dont have to be religious to enjoy a visit here. The sheer scale of the building is impressive and the view from the top is excellent. Put it on your to do list. Recommended.

We went into the church first before climbing the tower. It is really beautiful with a lovely font surrounded by cherubs. What was especially nice was the absence of tombs. There is an impressive organ just above the entrance and a beautifully ornate altar. This part of the church is free entry but the main attraction is climbing the tower which costs just under about £5 each. Climbing the inside of the tower is quite hard work as you have to climb through the bell tower housing something like 50+ bells so it is very twisty with low wooden beams and very narrow stairs in places so there is congestion when people come in the opposite direction. The viewing platform before the open staircase gives good views over the city and the open staircase for those brave enough to attempt it is a much easier climb because the steps are wider until they get right to the top. At the top it is only one person wide to swopping places with other coming up can be very 'cosy'

I stayed on the ground whilst my husband and son walked to the top of the church spire. The photos of the views of Copenhagen were amazing.
