Owner description: Experience the historic and atmospheric buildings from different parts of Denmark at The Open Air Museum. You can see impressive and atmospheric buildings, old breeds of domestic animals in the fields and attractive, historic gardens. Take a ride in the horse-drawn carriage and find inspiration in the museum shop. Bring along your family and a picnic basket and enjoy a day at the Open Air Museum.

The outdoor museum is a lot of fields with paths in the middle and very old houses alongside the paths. Some of the houses are from 1700 and every person working there is dressed like they're from that times. There's a great atmosphere and you kind of think that you have travelled back in time. delightful.

It's recommended either you are single or travel with family. So much to see, very nice view, your children will love it. Not far from Copenhagen. No entrance fees.

I have a friend who lives in Copenhagen, and my husband and I were visiting with Mette. We were rather beat from our long vacation travelling through Poland and Czech Republic.. Mette decided to take us here for some relaxation..No charge to enter this big open air museum. I loved the THICK thatched roofs!.. I discovered gooseberries! It was fun meandering those narrow dirt roads and seeing the different types of homes..and most fun was visiting an OLD Drug Store! It was a perfect way to end our vacation. Buying a few things from the Musee store was different from USA and fun!.. Surprised this is not well advertised at all!.. and glad we did not miss it!

This was a really brilliant day out. A range of rural buildings from different periods of Danish history, most of which are open for you to view inside. Gave a fascinating insight into how people lived in days gone by. You do need a full day to do it justice. Not well signposted though and we only found out about the place through word of mouth which is a pity as this is well worth any tourist going to see.
