“Its a mermaid statue..”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2012

If you know and are fascinated with the story of the Little Mermaid, then don't walk, run to the Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen. If not, maybe drop by if you have time. It's a Mermaid statue, it has a lot of tourists... that's it.

“Totally overrated”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2012

Little mermaid is totally overrated and is VERY little and not so great. There are also always many tourists visiting it, so it's usually crowded. However, it is a part of Copenhagen experience and should be visited.

“Just a small statue”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2012

There were lots of tourist trying to take picture of this little mermaid, and if you are lucky you get to snap a photo with the mermaid. I have to agree with some reviewer, if you are on a tight time budget, you can skip this. It's not centrally located. However, if you are already there, go to the WWII museum as well. It's located nearby.

“Looks nice also at night”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2012

I have seen here in the afternoon then I realized it looks also very beautiful right after sunset with lights on. Also many places like Churchill park and a famous cafe of Copenhagen Kaferiet, WWII museum are very close, so you can arrange a visit to them together.

“The VERY LITTLE mermaid”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2012

It was our first night in Copenhagen and we thought it would be a nice idea to wander (3km is a wander) up to see the Little Mermaid by moonlight. Now this would have been a great idea if 1, it wasn't really cloudy, so no moonlight and 2, there was any lighting on the statue at all. We had just spent the earlier part of the day in Malmo (where they appear to illuminate everything quite well) so it never occurred a major tourist attraction in a very popular city wouldn't even have a single spotlight (that worked). The worst part of this was it meant we had to walk up here again the next day to be able to actually see her properly. It turns out she is really little and although quite a nice statue is surrounded by too many people trying to get an amusing photo without the benefit of a picturesque backdrop.
The positives I took from the experience are the area around the Little Mermaid (down through Amalienborg) is lovely to walk around in the evening. It's really quiet in November so you can have a good look around without getting in anyones way.
The statue is worth seeing, if just for the people watching, but don't make a special trip, especially at night!.
