Owner description: Learn about Denmark's flora through this extensive collection of plants and fungi. The Botanical Gardens and Museum houses a seed bank and a library that specializes in books about plants and trees. It's also a great place to take a walk. The Botanical Gardens are open Tuesday through Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the winter, and every day until 6 p.m. from May through September.

“One of the best tended collections I've seen”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

If your background is horticulture, you know that you can tell a lot about a place by the collection of plants that thrive outdoors there and even more if you're seeing it all presented and labeled at a botanical garden. For example, it is excepted as fact that Denmark is very cold, but there are large fig trees growing outdoors there. Among botanical gardens, this one's a must-see. It is vast and beautifully kept.

“Small but well laid out”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

The Botanical Gardens represent contrasts - the layout is very well organized and very neat - it is shaped around a lake and has a lot of interesting flora and fauna - I saw two red squirrels - something I don't often see coming from Australia. However I was surprised by their Palm House which seemed to me to be very overgrown and needing a good prune, but they were some beautiful butterflies in one section of it which I thought was delightful.

“Beautiful!”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

We were there on a cold October day but still appreciated the layout and variation. The visit to the Greenhouse there needs a significant amount of time- remember that it closes early so don't leave it too late in the day.

“Lovely Detour”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

I happened upon the gardens by accident, I was walking to the national gallery when I saw the garden, I decided to cut through to see greenery rather than the road. I was glad I did, it was a bit early in the year for blooms but it was still lovely and peaceful.
