We came to this hotel for 2 nights prior to leaving on a cruise to Russia. We had a group of 10...in 5 rooms. This was affordable, clean, in a great location on the canal. The staff was helpful, the breakfast just fine. The only negative was the noise on the front side. Great view over the canal but we kept our windows open to capture the breeze....this is a happening place so lots of partying at canal cafes and bars...so the noise wafted up. It disturbed some folks, but I slept well. The showers are very small, but clean. Great place.

Room Tip: Inside rooms if you want quiet.

We stayed in Bethel for a long weekend with a child, and it was an excellent choice. We had a large family room facing the street, which was absolutely fine. While the style of the hotel is rather bland, the location is excellent and the staff nice and friendly. We will be back for our next trip...

Super location. Close to sites and public transportation. Good for traveling with children. Nice breakfast. Rooms are very basic but fine, especially when compared to other rooms in Denmark. But certain staff members are reserved to the point of being rude, unfortunately. Everywhere else we traveled in Denmark the hotel and B&B staff were outgoing, friendly and helpful, making the staff at Hotel Bethel stand out as poor. (We stopped saying hello as the response generally was a pursed-lip nod.) Perhaps the owner of the hotel should give a lesson in civility to the morning front desk and breakfast staff? That said, there are more positives than negatives, especially if traveling with children.

Stayed a the Hotel Bethel in June for one night after leaving a cruise ship and was amazed at what good value it was, for such a prime position amongst all the canal cafes at Nyhavn. I booked a corner room on the third floor and it was very clean and well cared for and the price also included a light breakfast which was ready for us even though we had to leave at 6am in the morning. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

This hotel is located on a prime tourist spot, if this is all that matter to you them pick this one. It's also very clean.
In case you are looking for an extra, this is not the hotel for you, we got a nice tiny room with a view of Nyhavn, with very simple furnishings, the curtains are very thin and don't block the sunlight at all, and also you can hear the street sounds, this is a very busy area friday and saturday night. There's 2 sets of towels, no floor mat, no extras in the bathroom.
Breakfast is very, very basic and the staff look like the are all working there just because they don't have nothing better to do.
For the price we paid, you can get better deals not so close to the spotlight.

We just got back from our trip a few weeks ago. The location of this place is great. Right in the middle of Nyhavn, walking distance to many sites, the canal boat tour was just up the street (I DO love my time on the water), and a bus that takes you to the Central Station. With the cost of dining out in Copenhagen being pretty high, the free breakfast in the morning was a lifesaver. Lots of fresh breads, cheeses and meats. The beds were small, but comfortable, the room was clean, and, even though we were right across the street from the cafes and bars, the noise level was quite low. It was May, so we were able to sleep with the windows open and the weather was perfect (well, most of the time). All of these things added up to a great stay that made me not think of the small size of the room.

My only complaint was the plumbing. After about 2 minutes in the shower is started to overflow into the rest of the bathroon and, at night, it would gurgle and make all sorts of weird noises that were heard from the shower, toilet and sink. This had me worried as to whether the toilet was going to back up into either of the remaining two. Our last night there, after a day of steady rain, was the worst. We woke up the next morning and both of us took the quickest showers possible. On our way down to check out we ran into another guest with the same issues. We told the girl at the front desk and were both met with indifference to our situation as if we weren't the first ones to complain about this.

It's too bad our trip ended like this. I would highly recommend this place to anyone if they ever get that plumbing fixed.

Room Tip: stay on a higher floor and ask for a view of Nyhavn.

This really is the perfect location. None better from what we experienced. The rooms were clean and spacious and the free breakfast was very nice and included plenty of choices.

But...two things that would make me try someplace else next time. First: the Free Wi-FI would not work in our room, we were on t he first floor. We could only access it from siting in the hallway or in the breakfast area. When I mentioned it to the front desk, we got a not sure why answer. Whne asked if they have had any other complaints (I have seen them on their reviews) the answer was only on the third floor. I asked if there was anyting they could do and the answer was no. Working Wi-Fi is critical to us as we travel. It's how we look up hours for attractions, restaurant menus' etc and make our plans for the next day. My daughter spent her time sitting on the hallway floor at night to get online.

Second was the passive service. Besides the wi-fi issue, they could not help with how to get around using the bus lines. It really didn't seem to bother them when they couldn't help with the most basic of "tourist" questions. Never once did they offer to help us figure it out. As long as we sked them a question they knew the answer to, they were fine. But helping with the ones they would have had to work to answer wasn't going to happen.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that the wi-fi works.
