“Name doesn't quite describe it.”
Reviewed January 7, 2011

We arrived around 11 pm to find our hostel was out in the middle of nowhere. After discovering this we then were told that the only alcohol we could have there was the beer that they sold at inflated prices. It really made the social aspect of the hostel disappointing. Aside from that the bunks were three in a room stacked three high. The room was poorly ventilated and had an odor the whole time we were there. The 3 showers that were available stayed between lukewarm and icy, not ideal to say the least. I would only stay here again as a last resort.

In the title I put bad location not only because it is far away from the center but also because the neighbourhood isn't very nice, calm etc. I spent there only one night but that was sufficient, there were people yelling in the streets, trying to get to the hostel and that really scared me. Otherwise the room was clean, the service quite good...

The instructions to get to the place are not clear and it's far away from the city center. Indeed, it's close to a cementery. Even when you are really closed to the hostel there are no signs so it is difficult to know where it is.
The staff was nice, except for one guy who is **********
Internet was free and the common room was fine. However, the dorms and the common area are not in the same building. The room was clean, with lockers, double bunks and everything was ok. There was enough space in the room (there were only 6 beds). Bathrooms were great, specially the showers.
There's one problem, you need to pay for the bed linen or just take it from your house.
Breakfast is not included in the price, although it seems to be good.

This hostel was ok, not good not bad. I slept in a 6 bed dorm, with 3 level high beds... I was very happy to be at the bottom. The room was small and had only 4 lockers. But Ive heard other rooms were better and with more space. Nice common area, but only two computers. Too bad you cant bring your own alcoholic drinks (they sell that there). Showers are excellent, but there are not enough. All showers are private.
The location of the hostel was a 20 minute walk from the central station, not good not bad.

I've been in this hostel for about 1 week and was surprised by the bad reviews given here. Of course, the Sleep in Heaven is not a 5 star hotel, but for young travelers is more than essential.
We were in a group of five people, we were in a room very small and hot, because of the hot summer of Copenhagen. But that's okay! The bathrooms are large and relatively clean, have wooden doors, with locks, so there is no problem sharing it with people of the opposite sex.
The internet is free, there are only two computers. But, who will want to spend hours and hours on the Internet, when there is a city as beautiful as Copenhagen to know?! To check email is great!
The breakfast is not included in the price, but I recommend because it is very tasty!
Regarding location, the hostel is very close to Forum Station. To reach the city center, a walk of 15-20 minutes!
Do not create many expectations and I'm sure you too will be amazed!

I had never stayed in hostels before, and it was between this hostel and the City Danhostel. Having been assured that Sleep in Heaven had the best location I picked this one, but was terrified at what I might have gotten myself into considering the majority of reviews on here and the photos you see on this page.

However, when I arrived I was greeted at reception and given all the info I needed. I was informed that I would be staying in the new section of the hostel which requires you to go outside of the reception and back inside 2 doors along. This section of the hostel is impeccable and does not in any shape or form match any of the descriptions in other reviews. Everything was brand new and very modern. There were separate sex toilets and separate sex showers (which are lovely) and I never once had to queue. I never noticed any noise and had no trouble sleeping.

The bedrooms were also a pleasant surprise. The beds in this section of the hostel are only 2 bed bunks - so there isn't that annoying third bed at the top. There is plenty of space and you have your own reading light and plug socket. Lockers are also inside the bedroom so you don't need to go in and out. You do need to bring your own linen and I think they specified no sleeping bags (although girls in my room had them) but I just brought a duvet cover and slept inside that with the duvet on top. There was only 1 night where my room was fully occupied.

The beer garden seemed quite busy, but there is also a nice area to sit and read. Whilst I was there I did notice what must be the other part of the hostel where I guess most of these reviews refer to. I can imagine it getting rather noisy and cramped in that part. I think I was very lucky to be staying in the new part.

Overall I was very happy with my stay - just wish it had a kitchen!

I really enjoyed my stay in this hostel, there are many pro if you are planning a cheap trip to Copenhagen (that's an expensive city...):
1) easy to reach from the Airport
2) only 15-20 minutes walk from the city center
3) free use of pc/internet and lockers
4) comfortable beds
5) quite area (do not get scared by the graffiti in the surroundings!!!! especially because you will find them all around the city)
6) friendly personnel
7) quite a small hostel

Cons: in the evening they play music until late, so if you like to stay up till late that's the place for you, if you like to go to bed early to do more visiting the following day and your room is next to the common area then you might be a bit annoyed
The bathroom gets cleaned at noon, so do not expect it to be completely net the following morning (that was a bit annoying... but not too bad)
