city centre hotel is very basic, you get what you pay for here, no frills BUT it is walking distance from the train station, Tivoli and the main shopping street Stroget. The bathrooms are mainly tiny wet rooms and we found the rooms little too hot. The breakfast is ok and it's fine for a cheap city mini-break. Don't try and impress your girlfriend by staying here though, she'll think you're cheap!

We chose this hotel based on location and availability since we were booking only a week ahead. It is very close to central station and tivoli.
The room was spacious enough for thge two of us, even had a couch. However, i might not recommend this to friends.

Cons: Very old and dated rooms and furniture.
All water from the shower was over the bathroomfloor.
Not so good pressure from the shower.
No AC, luckily we got the last fan.
Location was close to lots of gentlemens clubs.
Breakfast was cold only, and mostly green tea or earl grey.

Pros: Friendly staff.
Location near station and Tivoli.
Spacious room
Danish(pastry) and coffee from the breakfast was nice.
Not a sound from neighbours.
Lovely outdoor patio.
Free wifi!

You pay for the location, but go right so you dont end up in the questionable areas.

The hotel is just behind the railway station and very close to Tivoli and the rest of Copenhagen City. This was the third time we stayed at this hotel and we have always been satisfied with the rooms and the personal service at the lobby. The breakfast is good but there are too few tables in the courtyard. It is an affordable hotel that we can recommend.

Stay somewhere else. Good location near central train station & Tivoli Gardens. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. My room smelt of stale smoke. Very small twin room. Old crappy showerhead in the shower. Awful acoustics to adjoining rooms. Even the floor boards in my room squeaked when people in the adjoining rooms walked around! There was a safe in the room. The quality of the breakfast was the most ordinary I experienced in all of Scandinavia - and they are usually quite good. About the best thing about this hotel was the hardcore porn on late night Danish TV.

Just arrived back from Copenhagen after staying for 3 nights at the Ansgar Hotel. Very friendly reception when we arrived - myself, husband and four friends. We were early about 12 noon and room was ready. Rooms a little snug but had 3 beds in each one. Spotlessly clean, lovely walk in shower room with soap dispensers and adequate towels. One of our couples felt their room was a little hazardess with the sloping roof likely to cause them to bang their heads - their room was changed and luggage transferred to another more suitable within the hour!
Breakfast was excellent - fresh fruit, yogurts, danish pastries to die for and a selection of breads, cheeses, ham etc., what else can you possibly need?
Lovely court yard for eating when weather appropriate. All in all a lovely hotel for several nights if you are exploring Copenhagen.

Room Tip: Be careful the top floors have sloping roofs - very quiet overlooking courtyard.
