Description: Restaurant Bonjour Vietnam is located in beautiful settings just next to The New Theater, ‘Det Ny Teater’ in the Theater Arcade, ‘Teaterarkaden’ at Vesterbro, Copenhagen. The restaurant is run by Quynh Tran and her mother Loan Nguyen, who for more than 30 years has worked as a chef at restaurants through out Vietnam. Their mission is to bring parts of tradition and modernity from the Vietnamese cuisine to Danish restaurant visitors who appreciate a quality Asian cuisine, where everything is made from scratch, and at prices which everyone can participate in.Here You will certainly be able to enjoy the most superior dishes within the Vietnamese cuisine, which by many is considered to be the best and most sophisticated of the Asian cuisines.

Every single member of staff has the broadest, happiest smile. From the owner to the busboys they all smile and it shows they really enjoy having a full restaurant. Coupled with genuinely fantastic and authentic food with wrap your own pancakes to spicy build your own soups with all the trimmings, this place is an absolute must visit experience. The table staff are fantastically helpful and they also serve genuine Vietnamese beers.

Choose the 3 course menu for a good selection of Vietnamese flavours. The staff are excellent and very attentive.

Found this little restaurant by accident while looking for Asian food during week long stay in Denmark. Has been back a few times over last couple of years and with colleagues as well. Everyone always enjoy the food. The portion is good and not expensive by Copenhagen standard either ;-)
The restaurant is rather small so can get very busy. Service can at times be a bit slow, but the staff are always very friendly.

Dear Gen C,

Thank you very much for your nice review!
It is always our big pleasure to have you in our restaurant. It means a lot for us, when customers return to our restaurant, especially when they come from another country.
We look forward to seeing you again another time, when you come back to Copenhagen.

Kind regards
Q. Choleva

Our hotel made a reservation at Restaurant Bonjour Vietnam for us, after it had been recommended to us by a couple of other guests we met in the lobby. We arrived to a full restaurant, where our table still wasn’t ready.

We were then offered a glass of free white wine and beer as we were waiting, although our table was set after a few minutes, but a very nice gesture indeed.

Their menu does in Copenhagen terms belong to the pricewise very reasonable ones, so we honestly didn’t expect anything outstanding after placing our order to the nice young waitress, but we were up for a surprise indeed.

The spicy soup we had for a starter were simply delicious and looked beautiful with its red colors mixed with plenty of green herbs, our Vietnamese salad with green mango, papaya, lotus, finely cut turnip, a lot of fresh herbs and a lot of other vegetables I don’t know the name of, all topped with tender pieces of veal and fresh chili, were probably the best salad I remember eating in a long time. Our main course, grilled sea bass on a skillet plate, were a real piece of art, with its mix of fish and vegetables sizzling hot on the casted steel plated and with a heavenly smell, simply tasted like heaven.

After enjoying one of the best Asian meals in my memory, we left this beautiful restaurant, with full stomachs and big smiles, and I don’t have any troubles giving it my highest recommendations.

A Very affordable place, beautifully located in the ally by Det Ny Teater, however, with surprisingly low attention to tasteful interieur decoration. We were 6 colleagues out on a small team event and I had put my faith in the ratings on their own home page.... What a mistanke.

The service was quite slow - on a Monday with the restaurant only half full. Not a place I would go again....the cooking is OK in terms of freshness - but seems somewhat plain and adapted to Danish taste - the desserts were a regular disgrace (as in ready-made cakes from perhaps INCO/Metro)....

Take LeLe across the street instead if Vietnamese is on your radar.

Dear Kenneth,

Thank you for your review.

This is really the very first time since we opened, there is someone says something like ''low attention to tasteful interieur decoration''. We have visits of thousands customers every week. So I respect your view. We understand that it is difficult to satisfy everybody, when we all have different ideas. I love blue but I can't make you love it if you only love red. That is why we have many colours to choose.

For more information, you see we made recoration in our restaurant with a lot of handmade lamps, vases, painting (French design and Vietnamese lacquer technique). We sell hundreds of those beautiful stuffs to our dining customer every week. Our customers always ask if they can buy them to decor their own house or as gift to their family. And we even make a good business out of that. We have exported them to Norway, England, Germany... and even Canada. If you don't like them, probably simply because you don't like this kind of art.

You said we have adapted to Danish taste. If you read the reviews here on this page, you are almost the only one, or two who say so.

My mother, the kitchen chef, a Vietnamese woman who lived in Vietnam for 50 years and just moved to Denmark exactly two years ago to make this restaurant with me. I don't even know from where she gets the idea if she wants to ''adopt'' our food to Danish taste. Because she only eats Vietnamese food all her life, even when she comes here.

Probably everything you wrote here, just because you want to make restaurant Le Le becomes better. Because you ''advise'' customers to go to Le Le instead. I must proud to say that we hear everyday our customers say that our food is ''langt overlegen i forhold til Lele''.

Of course you should have your own choice but if you consider their food is ''more autentic'', I wonder if there is something that inflected your review? Since everybody knows that Le Le food is ''not just'' Vietnamese food, but a mixing of Japanese, Thai, Chinese... kitchen. They have sushi, sashimi (japanese), wonton (chinese), carry (Thai, Indien), for example.

Regards
Restaurant Bonjour Vietnam
