You are met by the spacious and beautiful lobby. Very inviting, and so are the people at the front desk.

The small doubleroom is... small, the bed 120cm, which was ok for us, but can you actually call it a double bed? But the room and bathroom is very nicely furnished and fresh.

Fantastic breakfast! We will definitely return

Only one question; If you want to be a organic, sustainable hotel; why do you keep an enormous root from a rainforest tree as a decoration in the spa?

Dear Ms Annsarner,

thank you for your kind words, we are very happy that you enjoyed your stay with us here at the Axel during the busy Christmas month.
In regards to your question concerning the tree root, we can tell you that this root has a special story: in Bali, they plant these huge trees in their cemeteries to protect the dead. When the tree after many decades becomes too large, and is in danger of falling over and damaging the graves and their decorations, they are uprooted and a new tree planted in their place. The uprooted tree is then used for manufacturing chopsticks, furniture and many other things. This particular tree-root comes from the local cemetery near the Guldsmeden resort in Bali, Chapung Sebali. We hope this answers your question :-). Best from all of us at Axel.

Nice hotel but they don't seem to be able to provide hot showers in the morning... It's "because too many people are using the showers at the same time". Euh... Is that not the essesnce of what a hotel should provide?!

Calling the desk dit not help ( surprisingly...) and thus: not recommended to stay here unless you like cold showers!

We stayed there a year ago over Christmas and liked it back then, so we came back. This year, it was very different. The hotel was way more worn, the room ok, but with many little annoyances (e.g. low water pressure, silverfishes, rough towels...).
Then we tried the acclaimed breakfast breakfast (according to their website "an asset of the hotel"). What a disappointment. Old bread, scambled eggs cold and already hard (not placed on warm plate), cold and har bacon and sausages, lukewarm coffee, unattentive staff (there was only one more couple, but six tables were left uncleaned for the entrie time), etc. Only good thing was that they made fresh boild eggs because they ran out. To their credit, after mentioning this during check-out, we did not have to pay for it, although mentioning "people usually really like our breakfast" - so maybe a glitch, but nevertheless...
Bottom line, we won't go back next year and they have to watch it that it doesn't go down the drain with this good idea due to bad and inconsistent service.

i found the hotel on the internet - have to say - i can't remember on how and were, but i am very glad i did. The location is perfect - not far from the central station and tivoli from where you can get easily around the city by public transportation.
Having a single room it was small but cosy and in a very good shape!
And very important - you have breakfast till 11am, or was it even 12?

Excellent hotel in central Copenhagen. Consciously to the environment. Very nice and sort of romantic rooms. Best breakfast ever :p Organic.

The only drawback for our stay, was that it was extremely high season and crowded.

I'm looking forward to visit again out of season.

This hotel makes you feel good about yourself. The rooms are small and cosy, and the hotel is comfortable rather than luxury. The location is superb, next to the station and a short walk away from the sights. But what this hotel excels at is the feel-good factor. Recycled toilet paper and organic stuff all around you, including recycled wooden access card for rooms. The bathroom accessories are superb, the staff are friendly, the bed is comfortable and all is good. I would recommend this place to single travellers, and maybe couples not looking for big rooms.
