“Short Getaway in Copenhagen”

Beautiful old seafront warehouse, that has been converted to a Fantastic Hotel.
Very nice rooms. We got a waterfront room, with a great view to this part of the harbour and the new Opera.
Only thing missing is a water cooker in the room.
Great place, would defently come back again.

The stay at Admiral Hotel was genuinely perfect as it created the perfect set-up for a stay with a wonderful and very special companion that will linger in memory for a long time. The rooms were well furnished, the bed excellent to sleep in, the service impeccable and the location and architecture undoubtedly amongst the top picks in Copenhagen. So I can highly recommend this hotel and you certainly get value for the money...

We stayed at the Admiral for a weekend with friends. The location is great, very central. It's a lovely area, quite close to the centre, the nice harbour Nyhavn, the castle and the little mermaid. The view across the harbour with the Opera is breath taking. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast buffet delicious. We were 6 friends that all loved the stile and the rooms in the hotel. The Admiral is not like all other hotels and that´s what´s makes it special! We will come back!

Room Tip: Ask for sea view.

- I love the external look of the hotel: she sure does have history
- each room retains the internal wooden beams which is pretty unique
- I tried the deluxe room (average; nothing to shout about); the suites are like a loft design with the bedroom on the upper deck. mind the stairs though; its pretty steep
- breakfast is awesome: very much a class western breakfast

Room Tip: choose the suites

very helpful staff, friendly

room towards sea has great view of the opera house, although there's a construction site between the hotel and the opera. (noise from the construction was hardly noticeable)

room was on the smaller side, esp the bathroom was not too spacious

great stay. the bar is OK, but the cocktails are too sweet (one evening, the bar was dominated by the smell from the nearby kitchen); restaurant was OK (you'd expect that for the price of the meal), however, the service was slow

Room Tip: room towards sea have stunning view of the opera house

We stayed at the Admiral while my boyfriend was on a business trip (i just tagged along ;) ).
The location is great, very central (albeit, it could be even closer to the center). It's ina lovely area, close to the center and close to the little mermaid. The view across the harbour with the Opera is breath taking.
You can tell it's a historical hotel. The naval theme is followed throughout the hotel and is quite original.
The staff was very friendly and did their best to recommend a place for us to eat (although everything was fully booked.... we decided to take a walk and find a place on our own).

The main problem is the rooms. There was this smell....i can't describe it but our room sort of smelled funky and old (at first i thought it was piss but i realised it was the wood).
Would i stay there again? Probably not as i prefer more modern hotels and boutique hotels but we got a nice corporate rate so can't complain much.

The breakfast buffet was very good.

The position of the hotel is excellent, and our room had a view over the water toward the Opera House, although it was somewhat spoiled by a large construction site, which became noisy quite early in the morning.
The room was attractive, but very narrow, so that one could only just squeeze between the end of the bed and the side wall. There were too few power points and those that were there were difficult to access. The bathroom was also small and quite dated with very poor pressure in the shower. On the plus side, the bed was extremely comfortable with cosy duvets and a beautiful woollen blanket.
We stayed three nights when the hotel was very busy, as it was the weekend of the Copenhagen marathon. Perhaps that is why we experienced poor or disorganised service. For example we requested an ironing board in the morning and had to ask again when it had not arrived by that afternoon.
We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, which provided a good selection each morning. We also ordered a light meal from room service one evening, which was very good and attractively presented, though it was not easy for two people to eat comfortably in the room.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Next door to royal residence Amalienborg Palace and just a short walk from Nyhavn, this imposing 200-year-old former granary warehouse is one of the largest hotels in the city, with 366 rooms - but don't let that put you off. It may not be boutique but big can definitely be beautiful. Beyond the two cast iron canons at the entrance is a neon-pink bar (great for a pre-dinner tipple), while guests retire to rooms showing off classic Danish touches such as teak furniture, low ceilings and original wooden beams. Best of all are the panoramas across the water towards the city's shiny Opera House and Christiania: a view fit for royalty. ... more   less
