This was a Business Trip and was booked to stay in this hotel. The hotel building has a long history with it and one can check it on the google itself.
A warm welcome and courteous interaction offered by the frontdesk team made the arrival pleasant after a long and tiring flight.
The hotel staff is very humble, kind and cheerful. Looking at the hotel's age one can imagine the hardwork put in by the staff for its upkeep and cleanliness. The rooms are quite decent and compared to some other restaurants are big, the windows are small but believe it was to ensure the heritage building is not modified and retain it's original design.
In some of the rooms there are wooden pillars in between but rather then obstruction they add a heritage touch. The hotel does offer free WIFI for its guest and is quite fast.
Unlike most of the hotels nothing was offered complimentary i.e. bathroom slippers, toothbrush but can be purchased from the vending machine in the hotel itself.
There was no breakfast available as part of the stay, probably that is how the booking was done. But the hotel does offer breakfast and also has a nice restaurant called "SALT" where one can enjoy good quality and sumptous meal. Had a dish containing vegetables and Venison's (deer) meat which was awesome and would suggest that one must try this, unfortunately can't recall the name. The hotel's ambience is wonderful and takes back you to the OLD era. This hotel is smoke free and hence one would have to come down for a smoke.
There is some extension work going on but really not affecting one's peace or stay at the Hotel.
Since self had to leave very early in the morning the frontdesk/reception team did a quick checkout procedure and also assisting in booking a cab. Usually one can find cabs waiting outside the hotel or same can be requested to be called with the assistance from the reception team.
The hotel rooms were also well maintained definetly due to a good team of people who have done their task with responsibilty. Coming back to Hotel from office always found the room was cleaned and arranged perfectly and gave a homely feeling.
Self was staying in room facing the Opera House, water way with small ships and yachts moored alongside which was nice rather than looking at the street.
The Hotel is well situated in the centre of the city, most of the major attractions and restaurants are at a walkable distance. Shoppers too need not worry as malls and shops they are in the same vicinity.
A lot of colleagues coming down for Business trip had positive reviews about this hotel and self will not disagree with them after staying here.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Next door to royal residence Amalienborg Palace and just a short walk from Nyhavn, this imposing 200-year-old former granary warehouse is one of the largest hotels in the city, with 366 rooms - but don't let that put you off. It may not be boutique but big can definitely be beautiful. Beyond the two cast iron canons at the entrance is a neon-pink bar (great for a pre-dinner tipple), while guests retire to rooms showing off classic Danish touches such as teak furniture, low ceilings and original wooden beams. Best of all are the panoramas across the water towards the city's shiny Opera House and Christiania: a view fit for royalty. ... more less
