A fantastic looking Hotel with a lovely entrance let down by relatively small rooms and mean bathrooms.
There was an event on Saturday night which had loud music which kept us awake till 1 am - even though we were on the third floor.
We were warned at check-in about the event, which I thought was disingenuous- if the Hotel really wanted to warn us they could have given plenty of notice so we could have had time to book somewhere else!

I must start by saying I find this one of the better appointed and run hotels in Copenhagen and have stayed here on several occasions in past 4-5 years. The staff are always polite and efficient and I particularly like the coffee bar in the lobby which is very cosmopolitan and up beat & cheerful. However have to agree with other reviewers and say the rooms whilst clean and well maintained are tiny for the prices charged. If you are given a room facing the harbour it's quite a nice vista but if on other side of premises it's just a street scene of little interest (- and noisy if windows opened). Also find the breakfast expensive and always crowded; never had a relaxing start to the day - always been a mass catering event! The really bigger downer I find is the SALT restaurant....... That is very expensive for what it is and I have invariably found myself eating elsewhere of an evening......... That said you can do an awful lot worse. The hotel is always warm and welcoming and I would recommend it on that criteria alone.

Stayed for weekend with family and booked two rooms. In booking description was promised nice rooms with old wooden carcass. We asked during checkinn rooms close eachother and we got rooms in second floor opposite to elevators, without any wooden structure inside, with view to the street. In one room was bad smell from bathroom and window opening was needed. No airconditioner in the rooms. More worse was in the evening, while people came out from restaurants for smoking in the entrance of the hotel. Of course it was connected with the lot of noise until 1.30 AM at second night, where there was some company party in the hotel. Lobby bar was very good and service there was absolutely in very good level.

Room Tip: Dont stay in the rooms located above main entrance

A lovely, cleverly converted warehouse. The model ships in the entry hall are fantastic!
Rooms are comfortable but minimal.
The bathroom is quite tight. But, very clean!
I had a road view room opposite the elevators and it is very noisy. The rooms seem to be very thin plasterboard that is not insulated.
You can hear the television from the room next door.
I asked for a King and got a twin beds.
There are not enough power outlets for the traveling businessman.
The artwork above the bed is not a good idea.

This hotel is undoubtedly aesthetically pleasing, however the service is average compared to other hotels of the same calibre. I thought it was very expensive (especially considering I stayed off peak time). Location is good for access to Nyhavn, and metro station. The walls are paper thin though, can hear every word spoken by other guests and the tv's in rooms next door both sides. I initially had a room facing the street front which was so incredibly noisy I could not sleep at all for the first night. As I was staying at this hotel for 4 nights, the next morning i requested to move to a room away from the street front, which the hotel staff did kindly accommodate. Undoubtedly the hotel itself is lovely to look at, and the foyer/ bar/ restaurant areas very nice. The accommodation/ rooms themselves though are poorly appointed. The mini-bar area did not have a nearby power point to plug in the jug to make a cup of tea in the first room I had (there were none elsewhere besides the bathroom), then in the second room the cord did not reach the nearest power point. The picture frame above the bed is so low that when you sit upright in bed your head has to lean against it (and I am a tiny 161cm - so not tall!) - it is the little details that make a room functional and comfortable that I think is a miss here, considering the price you pay to stay at this hotel. Overall a nice hotel to look at, but by no means exceptional accommodation.

I stayed here in Dec 2012. The service was excellent and the room was everything you expect at that price point. There is a cool decor that adds a lot of atmosphere.

The breakfast is very generous and of high quality. Likewise the bar and bar food is very good. I was able to work in the bar area for a whole afternoon in a quiet relaxed atmosphere.

My personal highlight was the available hotel bikes for getting around Copenhagen - this added a great deal for me and I would recommend cycling to any visitors to the city!

We stayed here for a weekend break, and couldn't have chosen better. Easy access to most tourist areas. An impressive entrance hall, efficient reception staff, and very comfortable hotel. The bar area was very modern and comfortable and the staff charming and helpful (as was everyone throughout the hotel). The breakfasts were exceptional with a huge variety of ripe fresh fruit, cold cuts, cheeses and breads. One of the best selections I have come across in Europe. The food in the restaurant "Salt" was also excellent, again the service was polite and efficient and no pressure to hurry your meal. The rooms were basic but comfortable and we were only in our rooms to sleep, so they were more than adequate with very comfortable beds and an unending supply of hot water. You get what you pay for - and I would say this is nearer a five star hotel than a four star, certainly in their public areas. Highly recommend.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Next door to royal residence Amalienborg Palace and just a short walk from Nyhavn, this imposing 200-year-old former granary warehouse is one of the largest hotels in the city, with 366 rooms - but don't let that put you off. It may not be boutique but big can definitely be beautiful. Beyond the two cast iron canons at the entrance is a neon-pink bar (great for a pre-dinner tipple), while guests retire to rooms showing off classic Danish touches such as teak furniture, low ceilings and original wooden beams. Best of all are the panoramas across the water towards the city's shiny Opera House and Christiania: a view fit for royalty. ... more   less
