The good news is that the hotel is in a wonderful location for views of the harbor and the Amelia Palace. It is a unique structure and the waterfront is wonderful for strolling. Gorgeous views of the Opera House and the Palace. The hotel is well maintained and comfortable. The bad news is that it really isn't an easy walk to the Metro Station at Kongens Nytorv if you have luggage. The streets and sidewalks are all cobblestones which makes a rolling bag a challenge. We also found that many of the recommended restaurants were a cab ride away (cabs are expensive and many won't do short hops). If you can get a deal here, the place is probably reasonably priced but for a waterfront room you have to book through the hotel and they don't discount much. Breakfast buffet was nice but expensive and not included in our room package. Our minibar was stocked but not functioning so nothing was cold and you had to call for room service for any items. We found the staff very helpful and knowledgeable. Overall, if you can get a package deal there, it would be a good place to stay and the views from the waterfront rooms are terrific, and will be even better when they get done building the structure right next door.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the water are nice but construction noise starts early and is loud

I am a frequent traveler to Copenhagen. The Admiral is a great hotel in many ways. The location is fantastic (walking distance from basically "everything" the centre has to offer), the staff is friendly, the restaurant (Sand) is excellent. the hotel can be seen as a business hotel, however it is also excellent to discover Copenhagen.
I would advise you to pay a little extra for a room with water view; it is worth it.

Hotel is very well-located - sharing the same street with the Amalienborg Palace (two minutes walk approximately). Within walking distance to Nyhavn and the Kongens Nytorv Metro station.
Room, however, was rather ordinary. The only thing that made it a bit different was the wooden gratings which reminded us of a ship.
All in all, it was OK and met our need to sleep and shower, etc.
The TV in the room we stayed cannot be turned off. Even after we tried to use the buttons on the TV. We reported it to the reception downstairs, was told it would be fixed, but did not seem to improve.
Room might get really warm in summer. Not sure about air conditioning in the room, saw a fan in the wardrobe though.

I recently visited the Admiral and was enchanted. If you like history revamped, it is the place to stay for you in Copenhagen. It is situated at the harbour with some old ships sticking around. You should get a room towards the waterfront. The rooms have charm and are well designed. Breakfast is of good quality and staff are friendly. Enjoy your stay!

This hotel will charm you. The staff is very friendly and competent. The food is outstanding. The location cannot be any better. A great location for a morning jog or walk, 15 minutes away from the Little Mermaid and also just 15-20 minutes from the old "Citadel" (Kastellet) protecting the Copenhagen harbour. Jogging maps are provided. The only drawback, I would mention, is that the rooms on the two top floors (5 and 6) under the roof can be quite hot in the summer, as the hotel is not air-conditioned.

The Copenhagen Admiral operates a fine ship.

Room Tip: Pay the few kroner extra to get a room with a harbour view.

Excellent location. Very easy to walk to all of the cool things to do downtown or the hotel will rent you a bike for a reasonable fee. The reason for 4 stars is that I expected a little more "cool factor" from the outside appearance and the lobby. It was just the routine mass produced hotel when you got to the rooms. Clean, nice, but boring. Would probably stay again, but maybe look around. I like small boutique hotels better.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Next door to royal residence Amalienborg Palace and just a short walk from Nyhavn, this imposing 200-year-old former granary warehouse is one of the largest hotels in the city, with 366 rooms - but don't let that put you off. It may not be boutique but big can definitely be beautiful. Beyond the two cast iron canons at the entrance is a neon-pink bar (great for a pre-dinner tipple), while guests retire to rooms showing off classic Danish touches such as teak furniture, low ceilings and original wooden beams. Best of all are the panoramas across the water towards the city's shiny Opera House and Christiania: a view fit for royalty. ... more   less
