Owner description: For hundreds of years the Danes were an unstoppable force of warriors, explorers and settlers – uniting Scandinavia, discovering America and bringing terror to the shores of Europe. Today Copenhagen’s history of fire and bloody battles lies hidden behind picturesque streets and colorful harbors. As the days of conquest passed, Danish power was replaced with a rich cultural legacy of writers, artists and philosophers. The fairy tale feel of the city where Hans Christian Andersen wrote is the home of incredible stories and unbelievably true histories: Viking adventurers, pirate-hunting Bishop Absalon, daring Danish WWII resistance fighters and more. Our local expert guides will take you on a 3 hour walking tour through 6000 years of Copenhagen’s history and you’ll find out why the Danes are some of the happiest people in the world!

We had a very enjoyable and informative tour of Copenhagen. Our guide Bruno had many interesting stories and insights about Copenhagen, it's landmarks and the Danes in general. The 3 hours passed very quickly. Over all "we felt very hueggley! ♥"... go on the tour and Bruno will explain

I came across this free (working on tips) guided tour by chance during a conference trip, but it was way much better than the tour arranged by the conference organization which we paid expensive fees.

The guide is enthusiastic, informative and full of energy. I will look for them when visiting other cities.

Whenever they are available, I like to take a Sandemans' walking tour to get an overview of whatever city I am visiting. I have not been disappointed to date and the Copenhagen tour was no exception, Nick, our Australian guide, was very personable and eager to show us his current home. In addition to a useful historical overview, Nick also provided some social and cultural insights into the Danish polity. He was also very helpful regarding eating, entertainment, and sightseeing recommendations. Well done!

First I must say that I find this free walking tours a 'must do' whenever you're visiting another country. This is no exception and even though it doesn't cover a big part of the city (and this one has so much to discover!) it is very useful as an introduction to the city and a good way to plan your stay. And the little stories make it fun and interesting. Way to go, Bruno!

After landing in Copenhagen late yesterday, this seemed like a good way to get a quick introduction to the city. Tours leave from the Town Hall steps - the Sandemans guides have red umbrellas (as opposed to the other free walking tour, which uses green umbrellas).

There were only around a dozen people on our tour, so we were able to move pretty quickly, and easily hear our guide Nick. He even took us to one or two "bonus" sites. I imagine if you were with larger groups it might not be as great.

Nick was very personable and exuberant, and had a good knowledge of the sites, as well as Danish history and culture. His tour was well structured, with a good arc.

There was a break in the middle, but this was perhaps a little longer than it needed to be.

The guides do take tips at the end (and rightly so, they earn it).
